A random image from my outing with the camera on Wednesday evening, I had been sky watching for a good part of the day and was pleased to see a nice lot of clouds hanging on into the evening.
Always a nice surprise when you go through a broken gate and a fellow Flickerite was there waiting for the light too, thanks for the company and chat up there Nick. Two images blended together I did use a grad filter on the sky, though I always prefer to blend my images
It`s a good climb up a steep hill to get to this spot but I took the longer and easier rout up, it was much quicker going down.

This is a long running project of mine: to slowly gather enough photons to image this wickedly faint blue nebula, known as the giant squid nebula. It's shape and emissions are consistent with it being a planetary nebula (the remains of a dying sun-like star). It sits in front of the majestic Bat Nebula (red) which is an emission region. It's not known exactly how close these two nebula might actually be to one another, but they make for a dramatic sight together!

It's the Sunflower Galaxy, or M63. It's about 25 million light-years away and stretches 100,000 light-years across, about the same size as our Milky Way Galaxy. It is in the constellation Canes Venatici, a small northern constellation that was created by Johannes Hevelius in the 17th century. Its name is Latin for 'hunting dogs', and the constellation is often depicted in illustrations as representing the dogs of Boötes the Herdsman, a neighboring constellation.

I made this one some time ago, but several others got in the way of it being released. I thought it was appropriately titled for this weekend, when many people have been watching the sky. Fortunately Hurricane Irene appears to have been pretty gentle.

Wild waves under a dramatic sky

Gazing at the water wide
Looking as wild waves, race and fly

Blue Eyes ~~ By Jackie ~~
Created for Macro Mondays # The Blues
"Blue Eyes" is a song performed by Elton John with music and lyrics written by Elton John and Gary Osborne.
It was released in 1982, both as a single and on the album Jump Up, which reached No.8 in the UK. In the US, the song went to No.12.
The image of the eye, belongs to an old, cross eyed doll.
Blue eyes
Baby's got blue eyes
Like a deep blue sea
On a blue blue day
Blue eyes
Baby's got blue eyes
When the morning comes
I'll be far away
And I say
Blue eyes holding back the tears
Holding back the pain
Baby's got blue eyes
And she's alone
Again
Blue eyes
Baby's got blue eyes
Like a clear blue sky
Watching over me
Blue eyes
Ooh I love blue eyes
When I'm by her side
Where I long to be
I will see
Blue eyes…

NGC 1976 , M42 The Orion Nebula is a diffuse nebula situated in the Milky Way, being south of Orion's Belt in the constellation of Orion. It is one of the brightest nebulae and is visible to the naked eye in the night sky. It is 1,344 ± 20 light-years away and is the closest region of massive star formation to Earth.
°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°
This past weekend, sky watchers and astrophotography enthusiasts were treated to the mesmerizing sight of the “Strawberry Moon,” the full Moon for the month of June.
The celestial event, which peaked on Saturday night, provided a stunning display as it cast a warm, golden hue across the night sky.
The term “Strawberry Moon” originates from Native American tribes, who named it to mark the ripening of strawberries, which typically occurs around this time of year.
Contrary to what the name might suggest, the moon doesn’t appear pink or red like a strawberry. Instead, it often takes on a slightly rosy or amber color due to its low position in the sky during this time of year 🤔
