Popped over to the The Skillion last week, a long time favourite spot of mine. It's a great place photography-wise. There is the Skillion itself you can see here. There are rockshelves to the north and south underneath. I've visited all of these many times over the years for taking photos at sunrise. There are surf beaches, protected harbours, pubs, cafes - a great seaside village vibe. We may have taken advantage of the pub for a delicious seafood gnocchi and cold beer afterwards. Several. Beers, not seafood gnocchis ;)
The Skillion itself is about 150m high and you can often spot sports teams, boot campers, and random masochists running up and down in an efort to kill themselves. It has some geologial signifigance beyond my understanding involving sedimentary rock, Middle Triassic thingies and Hawkesbury Sandstone.
So why we are on deep and meaningful thoughts - the hardness of the butter is proportional to the softness of the bread. Or these days I guess it's more like - the hardness of the olive oil spread is proportional to the softness of the eggplant discs.
Hope everyone is having a great week !

"You mean you'll put down your Kunai and I'll put down my sword and we'll try to kill each other like civilized people, is that it?””

These two young colts are already (about four months old) learning the skills to become stallions. It was so much fun to watch them! The one on the left is named Cresenete and the dark one is Poseidon.

I haven't been taking pictures for a while as life always goes first, but I never stop learning new things and sharpening my skills. I still have to go through a few months of backlog just to make sure my profile is up to date. Hopefully I will have some time soon and I'll keep posting more.
Thanks for following me!.

Douglas Bader was a Royal Air Force fighter pilot who overcame the loss of both legs in a 1931 crash to become a celebrated ace during World War II. He led squadrons with great skill and determination, particularly during the Battle of Britain, before being shot down and captured in 1941. Despite multiple escape attempts, he remained a prisoner until the war’s end and later became a symbol of resilience and determination.
He was also a keen motorist and owned several notable cars, including an Alvis 4.3-litre and a Drophead Bentley. His driving was known to be as bold as his flying, sometimes alarming passengers with his confidence behind the wheel.

The real skill of an artisan can be gauged by how he can produce the best with the available tools.

The light levels were pretty dull, under the thick tree branches in February. As a result this is a pan shot taken at 1/125th, simply by virtue of “I had to get it somehow”. The next Skills decker could come round the corner at any moment, so it wasn’t like I had a guaranteed window in which I could piss around with camera settings.
SIL 7028 is one of my most-photted Skills Presidents because this is the third time I’ve caught it on camera.

A little while before I'd been preoccupied while within the hospital grounds, when I suddenly heard a familiar noise from down on the road below, which warranted stopping what I was doing to look. That noise was the roar of a Dennis Trident, which was slowly making its way along the hospital loop road - of course I was pleased that I'd seen it, but disappointed I'd missed photting it.
Disappointment didn't last long though, as the very same Trident (or at least one that looked identical) appeared out on the main road, at just the perfect moment for me to encounter it while walking towards the roundabout. Although I've photted this particular one before, it's nice to see Skills ex-Lothian Plaxton President SIL7028 again. Is this the only one in their fleet, or have Skills got more of these that I need to try and track down?

The luck was with me here, as while waiting for the 50 to show up I had the added bonus of a Skills Plaxton President coming along - I was fully expecting it to turn off towards Sneinton when it turned up in the left lane. Didn't get blocked by traffic either!
Unexpectedly, but successfully, spotted 'n photted at the Manvers Street railway overpass is Skills Coaches Plaxton President bodied Dennis Trident SIL 7028, previously SN04 AEL at Lothian.

I've just returned from a quick trip up to Washington DC to visit my buddy John (the_amazing_stache). The photo here is of the Washington Monument. I really love the angle of this shot which was of course taken with my 10-22 wide angle lens. It is however blown out in several spots that I could not fix with my limited editing skills. The monument is well lit at night so overexposing it is very very easy.
Yeah I've been away from Flickr for a while (at least from posting). Sometimes Flickr plays with my head a bit. I seem to overanalyze my every shot and never think it is worthy of posting because of minor flaws. Hopefully I can get over that and more importantly get out there and shoot more frequently from now on.
