I added the lights, Lexan plastic windows and Duramax black self stick insulation. The Duramax also dampens sound. I thought it was just my design but no, you can't always get out if the arms are up a little too much--on others, too. I'm going to put wing nuts on the back window in case I get trapped inside so I can remove that window, go outside and get the hinge pins off the front door. I added all the above this winter as well as removing the entire hydraulic system and having it rebuilt by an expert. I removed it and reinstalled it myself. For $4000 I got a showroom quality system back. I did the rebuild because I could barely drive up into my trailer. It was a toss up up as to whether it was worth it to fix the hydraulics but fixing was only one step. Otherwise I would have had to sell this one, possibly in parts, then buy another used one of uncertain quality.

Caterpillar CAT 226B Skid Steer Loader - Building Demolition - PHSH - Abandoned Hospital (Presidio, San Francisco)
A skid steer do not have a driving wheel and orientable wheels like cars. In order to turn (i.e. steer), the driver uses levers to change the rotation speed of the two wheels on one side vs the other side, causing it to skid. By having the wheels on one side turning in one direction and the other side in the other direction, a skid steer can turn on the spot. Skid steers use the same technique as tanks or crawlers excavators, except that they use wheels rather than tracks. This technique allows for a much simpler and more robust drive train and increase maneuverability, but does not allow driving it at high speed and it only works well when the front and back wheels are close, i.e. on very short wheels base vehicles.
This development project is called Presidio PHSH Adaptive Reuse Housing.
The Public Health Service Hospital (PHSH) is located in the Presidio of San Francisco. It has been rehabilitated into luxury condos housing in 2010, and it is now called "Presidio Landmark Apartments".

Forest restoration at Morton Forest. Invasive and undesirable plants are cleared to restore the area to its native state of oak savanna. A group of volunteers working with Dane County LWRD staff saw and pile brush during a December work day in the forest. Morton Forest is approximately 114 acres and offers year-round hiking trails and two outstanding vistas looking over the countryside. A portable toilet located at the parking lot.

It's not often that I railfan using my F350 but when the weather and traffic come together, why not? I was transporting my skid steer back from the UP and it ended up serving as a shooting platform for the previous shot, just enough elevation and place to sit and wait. With the hauling done for the year, it's back to something a lot more nimble for future excursions. October 15, 2018.
A curtain of dirt flows from the bucket over a newly placed culvert along my camp road. A hot dry stretch of days allowed for plenty of dirt work improvements and seat time in my elderly skid steer. It may seem like an odd way to enjoy some time off but when you spend 40 hours per week sitting at a desk this is a very fun alternative.

I was quite surprised when the skid steer picked up the whole tree and brought it to the chipper. Yes, the chipper was able to handle this whole thing.
Universal Wrecking Corp. www.universalwrecking.com recently completed a large demolition and scrap metal recycling project in Pennsylvania. The project consisted of the demolition of a large industrial site that had been damaged by a fire. UWC utilized its large fleet of demolition equipment to wreck the building and then recycle the recovered steel and metals as scrap.

Owner driver Adam, these days operates a skidsteer loader. This photo is a before shot of the sleeper cab being refitted. The Mack six wheeler used to be a semi. And also once hauled grain in the wheatbelt areas of WA.
I tried to make this dig a little deeper than the ones I saw for sale commercially which is usually about 6 feet. I think mine is closer to 8 partly because of the longer bucket. Backing up helps the bucket cylinder dig--one version of this doesn't even use a bucket cylinder. Turn to dump. For another view see: flickr.com/photos/21702692@N05/2199209170/
