My goodness, this place is not called "Uniglade" as I thought, it is called Unigate.
Not actually a relic from Streatham's long-forgotten Tudor past, much though it might look like it, with its almost medieval defenses around it.
Many, many years ago, this was the second of the fashionable "Streatham Wells" mineral spas (the original, now in the Rookery garden, was contaminated and closed in 1792.) Then it became the Curtis Dairies (what is left of the woodland pastures are now Unigate Woods) and finally the Unigate Dairy, a massive brick block, with this little house tucked in at the back.
I just really liked the combination of the jaunty mock Tudor woodwork with the more modern "Elephant and Castle" vivid pink. (In more rural areas that colour pink would be accomplished by mixing pigs blood with the render, but thankfully, this is a less gruesome and more modern version.)
