This male is checking out the timing for his turn at the sunflower seeds. Note how this male is nearly perfect. I point that out because many of the cardinals are molting and are looking a bit ugly right now. This one has maintained his good looks so far.

06 060 & 06 029 of BDZ Cargo with freight trains at Bratsigovo station. That's definitely is not a common view on the branch line to Peshtera. This year there were several courses of a freight trains with fuel for a military fuel base, located near the town of Bratsigovo, but overall the freight traffic on this line is very very poor. I would say that these fuel trains from time to time for this base are the only freight traffic on the line.

In this situation I was lucky to catch both locomotives when 06 029 took out an empty train from the base, while 06 060 is waiting for it to push the full tanks in the base.

A trainspotting video of the shunting action in Bratsigovo and the passing train with the two Sulzers is available here:

I'm sure O'hare is as big of a mess as Schiller Park was on this fine snowy afternoon. The WC Y0175 pig transfer for Bedford Park is sitting on the Gauntlet with Super John Fenliciki chomping at the bit to go while a CSX Grand Rapids crew (you can plainly see) is in their usual no hurry to depart on CP 504 out track 7 to B-12. He's doubled out of the south end of the yard at Soering Avenue before power switches and CTC... A SOO SD60 is very rare on jobs that always rated CP SD40's and sometimes MLW's in their final winter in 1996.... I'm sure 3025 is warm, I guess its time to crawl back up on my geep and have another cup of coffee, it's going to be another all day, one-way adventure...

Letting Go... Sometimes, it's like releasing a balloon into the vast sky. We cling on, afraid of losing what we know, but in letting it go, we allow it to find its own path. Similarly, when we release people and situations we can no longer control, we grant them the freedom to discover their own destiny. It's an act of self-love and trust in life's natural flow. Though it may hurt at first, in letting go, we allow what truly belongs to us to stay close, while making room for new experiences and connections that enrich our journey.

Kudos to the birders who figure out who these drifters are and then take the trouble to help other birders find them.

This guy was way off his patch.

"While today’s vagrant might be tomorrow’s model citizen, destined to become a colonizer and perhaps an established resident, as Grinnell (1922) asserted, most vagrants might be viewed as “failed colonization attempts”. Newton (2008: 267–299) summarized quite well the various explanations of the causes of vagrancy put forward over the past century or so. They include: normal dispersal over long distances, population growth or expansion, drift by winds, migration overshoots, deviant directional tendencies (right time but wrong direction), mirror-image migration, and reversed direction migration. While all explanations probably play a role and explain the occurrence of some vagrant individuals, we address the latter three explanations as they likely involve the vast majority of landbirds. The mirror-image misorientation theory, originally developed by DeSante (1973), and described by Diamond (1982), proposed that vagrants are misoriented by confusion of right and left in relating an inherited migration direction to a compass reference direction. Mirror-image misorientation theory accounts for observations made by DeSante (1983a) that in certain situations large-angle misorientations seem more frequent than small or intermediate deviations from the normal migration course (Alerstam, 1990). Misorientation by the wind has long been suggested as a cause of accidentals (Austin, 1971), but Thorup et al. (2012) found differently, as the authors used radio telemetry to track individual migratory flights of several species of songbirds from the Faroe Islands, approximately halfway between Norway and Iceland, far west of their normal migration route. Birds with expected easterly and south-easterly migration direction departed westward out over the Atlantic Ocean, indicating that these birds are actively flying in the “wrong” direction and that their occurrence is not caused by wind drift. However, on Attu Island, in the Aleutian Islands off Alaska, Hameed et al. (2009) found statistical evidence that the occurrence of spring Asian vagrants on this North Pacific island were correlated with storm winds from the west."

Ella wants to know why Jimmy isn't bugging her and I want to know why she hasn't been rolling around on the ground getting dust and dirt to cling to her fur. Without knowing quite what to do in this novel situation, she decided to sit still and look at me and I decided to take her picture.

Due to the bad situation in the sand mine Kotlarnia and the issue it has faced on its ralway side, there has been another place, where the KPK TEM2 locomotives have been withdrawn from service in recent weeks - the infamous coal mine Sośnica, which has been the last place of service for SM31 locomotives.

Its enormous, climatic spoil tip has atrracted many railfans both from Poland and abroad. Since the end of the SM31 class in late 2023, PKP Cargo Service has borrowed a couple of TEM2 locomotives from KPK and they were deployed all around Silesia... until September of 2024. Kotlarnia started having problems with the national railways departament and was asked to withdraw most of its TEM2 locomotives from service, like in KWK Staszic.

To combat this, PKP Cargo Service made the decission to 'import' Czech class 740 locomotives from PKP Cargo International, which acquired them by incorporating AWT. As Vojta reports, numbers 426 and 887 were brought into the coal mine Sośnica. Other locomotives are also to be distributed to KWK Staszic for shunting duties.

Thus, we won't get to see a TEM2 locomotive in this place in the near future and trains like the one pictured are already history. It shows TEM2-107 climbing up to the mining waste tipping point with a long set of loaded Fas carriages.

Introduction

Word of God "God Himself, the Unique (III)" (Excerpt)

www.holyspiritspeaks.org/videos/God-Himself-the-Unique-vi...

God’s authority exists regardless of the circumstances; in all situations, God dictates and arranges every human fate and all things in accordance with His thoughts, His wishes. This will not change because humans change, and it is independent of man’s will, cannot be altered by any changes in time, space, and geography, for God’s authority is His very substance. Whether man is able to know and accept God’s sovereignty, and whether man is able to submit to it, does not in the slightest way change the fact of God’s sovereignty over human fate. That is to say, no matter what attitude man takes toward God’s sovereignty, it simply cannot change the fact that God holds sovereignty over human fate and over all things. Even if you do not submit to God’s sovereignty, He still commands your fate; even if you cannot know His sovereignty, His authority still exists. God’s authority and the fact of God’s sovereignty over human fate are independent of human will, do not change in accordance with man’s preferences and choices. God’s authority is everywhere, at every hour, at every instant. If heaven and earth were to pass away, His authority would never pass away, for He is God Himself, He possesses the unique authority, and His authority is not restricted or limited by people, events, or things, by space or by geography. At all times God wields His authority, shows His might, continues His management work as always; at all times He rules all things, provides for all things, orchestrates all things, just as He always did. No one can change this. It is fact; it has been the unchanging truth since time immemorial!

I thought we were doing what we could to practice personal safety with all this COVID-19 stuff, then I caught these two Trumpeter Swans in the back pond this morning. If they can do it, we can do it too!

Just kidding folks. Just a little photoshopping to add a little humor to our lives. No swans actually wore masks!

The backstory is that a friend in Anchorage mentioned that he had seen either swans or sandhill cranes on the pond behind his house. Of course, our ponds are still frozen, and it's early, but not to early for the swans. He said they were indeed swans, and that he was initially confused because they were wearing masks - teasing me because of the COVID-19 situation. Well, I loved the image it created in my mind and I made it so.
