Ubicadas a 2800 msnm.

Teotihuacan - "the city of the gods "

Teotihuacan is one of the most important archaeological sites of the pyramids in Mexico . Located about 50 kilometers northeast of Mexico City , Teotihuacan is still a mystery to anthropologists and archaeologists . This ancient city was abandoned by its builders over 500 years before the rise of the Aztec culture. The name Teotihuacan , the Nahuatl language, means "city of the gods " or " where men become gods." It is considered that the Aztecs have given the name to the town when they visited .

George Stuart , one of the editors of National Geographic magazine , explains that " Teotihuacan was the first urban center in the Western Hemisphere . . . Emerged around the beginning of the Christian era, existed for some seven centuries and then disappeared . At the height of its prosperity , in about 500 AD , is estimated to have had a population 125000-200000 inhabitants. "
