In Cape May

Had a wonderful time home for Christmas, but back on the road since Tuesday. My daughter, son-in-law, and grandkids came over Christmas day, I also spent time with them Saturday, what a handful the grandkids are, so much energy.

About this picture, my daughter had her laptop with her and was going to show me some recent pictures she'd taken of the kids, but her laptop's battery was dead. She had the SD card with the pictures on it, so she loaded them up on my laptop. I fell in love with this shot, and asked her if I could do the post work on it. Of course she said I could. So this image is a collaboration. The girls weren't posing, in fact they hadn't been cooperating during the entire shoot, but during this moment of goofing off they accidentally provided a beautiful instance that would be impossible to get from them intentionally.

So again, I didn't take this picture, but so happy my daughter did, and that she let me play around with the editing of it. I think it shows great sister love and wanted to share it with my friends here.

The Three Sisters are closely spaced volcanic peaks in the U.S. state of Oregon. They are part of the Cascade Volcanic Arc, a segment of the Cascade Range in western North America extending from southern British Columbia through Washington and Oregon to Northern California. Each more than 10,000 feet (3,000 m) in elevation, they are the third-, fourth- and fifth-highest peaks in Oregon. Located in the Three Sisters Wilderness at the boundary of Lane and Deschutes counties and the Willamette and Deschutes national forests, they are about 10 miles (16 km) south of the nearest town, Sisters. Diverse species of flora and fauna inhabit the area, which is subject to frequent snowfall, occasional rain, and extreme temperature variation between seasons. The mountains, particularly South Sister, are popular destinations for climbing and scrambling.

This is a re-touch of a photo that I shot of my sister in Hawaii last summer. It is for an assignment on The Portfolio:Pro Invitation group called "If I traded it all" based on the song "One Thing" by Finger Eleven.

The first thing I thought of when I read the assignment, was my sister. I remember a while back that she loved this song, and kept trying to find it to download for her iPod and couldn't find it anywhere. But as I thought about the meaning of the assignment I knew I had to include a picture of her.

The one "thing," or in this case, person that I could never live without is Kimberly. She is not only my sister, but my best friend. Sure we had our moments ...especially in high school...when we would curse each others' names, but all that petty kid stuff falls away, and we are left with each other.

My sister is beautiful, my favorite model, talented, and probably the best sister a girl could hope for.

I now live far away from her, and I miss her so much. I keep trying to convince her to move down here near me, but I doubt that will happen. But even though distance keeps us physically apart, I know that we will always be close, and only a phone call, or even a thought away.

I know she's going to read this...and possibly even cry, so to you Kimmey, I love you. If I traded it all, if I gave it all for one thing....it would be you.

An old one wich i already took 2 months ago.

Hope you will enjoy this.

Have a wonderful weekend my dear friends and followers

Seven Sisters (six remaining) Copt Hill, Houghton le Spring,

County Durham. Older than Stonehenge, the Seven Sisters Round Barrow, Copt Hill, Houghton-le-Spring is a Scheduled Ancient Monument. It was excavated by Canon William Greenwell and Mr Thomas William Usherwood Robinson, gentleman and local landowner, in September 1877. They found several cremated bodies, probably Neolithic, some pots and a small number of flints, possibly Bronze Age, and evidence that the barrow was used for further burials in the Bronze Age. An urn that they found is now in the British Museum

There is someone I love so much,

who is very close to me.

Someone so caring and so sweet,

Thoughtful and kind is she.

Who is there when I need her,

through good times and through bad.

Someone to laugh and share my tears,

The best friend I've ever had.

We have spent many years together,

ups and downs only a few.

Always standing up for me,

as I stand up for you.

So thank you sissy so very much,

one thing I want you to know.

My love will follow you each day,

no matter where you go.

Spring cubs, Coastal Brown Bears (Ursus arctos). Of course, being bear cubs, they spent a lot of time knocking each other around. However, they are sisters, with a strong bond. At the end of the day, they are close. Silver Salmon Creek, Lake Clark National Park, Alaska.

United for the first time in about 26 years CNJ GP40P #3677 and CNJ GP7 #1524 are posed side-by-side west of the MMC's Locomotive Shops in Kearny, NJ.

Wait, did I say CNJ GP40P #3677? I must be mistaken! I meant to say NJ Transit GP40PH-2 #4109 wearing its fresh new coat of B&O Royal Blue complete with its as-delivered "C N J" markings. The engine is posed along side its older sister for a photoshoot on a beautifully sunny afternoon after the annual NJT Family Day event came to an end. Thanks to a surprise move by Gen. Supt. Eqpt. Charles Tomazfski the 4109 was brought out in into the sun in it's completed state for the first time for a handful of family day volunteers, employees and photographers to admire and photograph.

The 4109 is the latest addition to the NJ Transit heritage fleet joined by ALP46A #4636 (PRR) and ALP45-DP 4519 (EL) and a handful of multilevel coaches released earlier this year thanks to generous donations from some of NJ Transit's biggest advertising sponsors. It was completed in two weeks by a small team of hard-working and dedicated employees between Hoboken and the MMC just in time for it's 51st birthday.

The long term plan is to restore this CNJ veteran mechanically and return it to active passenger service on NJ Transit with a new HEP and a handful of other needed repairs.
