Douglas Hofstadter was the eloquent skeptic. He expressed concern at many of Ray's ideas, but is also alarmed that nobody in the scientific communitiy was taking Singluarity seriously.

Instead of the sun going down, as normally seems apparent, Do you ever imagine instead the Earth turning and the sun remaining still? - The Earth a vast, hugely massive sphere, slowly turning, and we, somehow, by that incomprehensible force of gravity, stuck to it's surface revolving in space. It all seems so implausible. That the great mass of the planet can simply spin slowly through the sky seems incredible, and the fact that we, people, are able to discover such things is in some ways even more incredible. Life seems fantastic.

this is an outcome of my diploma thesis called singular savant (done in 2008/2009), it is a try to depict machine/humand interaction in 20 to 50 years.
in short: it enhances the ability of a brain by getting it into savant like state (through magnetism). every person is unique so every "orthosis" is grown by the parameters of its owner. the style of the structure is a mixture of fractal geometry and bones. this was a try to think about what will happen, and also to think about the social impact of technology.
