Wat Phra Singh is situated on the western end of the old city, nestled inside a moat that was originally established in the year 1345. The temple was built to house the remains of the late King Kham Fu by his son King Phayu, the fifth king of the Mangrai dynasty. The statue of Phra Buddha Singh was brought to the temple in 1367, which led to the temple being renamed. The main attraction of Wat Phra Singh is Wihan Lai Kham, a complex which reiterates the history of Songthong and Suwanna Hongse. As for its grand architecture, visitors will be amazed by the majestic lions that guard the main entrance of the temple overlooking the Ping River.

Simran Singh before his Amrit Sanchaar (~Sikh initiation/baptism ceremony).

He is an African American who used to be in a gang: the Nortenos {that second 'n' should have an accent on it}. He used to have a dream all the time where he'd be spinning Kirpaans. It got to be a nightly thing for him, and he just couldn't figure out what it was all about. One day, when passing a Guruduara Sahib, he saw Singhs playing Gatka - and he knew he was at home.

Watching his penthraa was amazing, and seeing him play was just something else. I saw him standing here, before the floats had begun to leave the parking lot, and he just looked so serene, so amazingly at peace, I wanted a shot. I didn't get a single good one. I managed to get some of his penthraa, but they're not that great either.

Very nice Singh, spoke very sweetly and quietly with everyone. I don't know him, so I was a bit shy of approaching him, although I was wondering where he was from. I ended up overhearing later that he is from Sacramento or something like that, but this was after I got up the guts to speak to him. He was looking around, and I got the impression he was looking for someone. I asked him if he was looking for someone, and he said something which I didn't hear. We leaned our heads in a bit and he smilingly said "Have I found her?"

A tad confused, but hey =)

Sahib Singh was the most comfortable with me when I entered their classroom. Just because he knows me from sangat. Everytime he wanted to get my attention he'd be like "Mashee, i've to tell u sumtin" hehe And he was very proud of that temporary tattoo on his hand :p
