Amy Petty | Danielle Miraglia | Jen Kearney: Three For the Road Tour
One of my BFF's, Amy, is about to hit the road with two other local singer/songwriters for a few weeks doing an "in the round" style series of concerts. They launched the tour at Studio 99 in Nashua. I had heard of Jen Kearney and saw her name on things posted at The Space in Lowell, MA, but had never heard her. Danielle had totally skipped my radar until I heard her perform this evening.
How to describe all three: holy sh*t!!!
Jen has this nutty 1970's soul sound. Think early Chicago/Elton John/"enter-your-70's-musician-here" sound that is really damn good. It's like someone plucked her from the past and transported her to the future. Really unique and throaty sound.
Danielle totally floored me - she's got this great Emmylou Harris sound with stomps and bluegrass plucking and looks like a combination of actresses Julie Delpy and Sissy Spaek with a little Joni Mitchell tossed in. I was in awe as this little blond singer was stompin' and playing harmonica and guitar all at the same time. Totally floored.
And Amy always floors me.
What I didn't know was how amazing their three voices intertwined together.
They are figuring out the logistics of forming a band (!!!!!!!!) and are trying to come up with a name. I'm really excited to hear what kind of songs they write as a group.
Sign me up.

Susan has received praise for her moving melodies and stirring lyrics which reflect a deep soul. Susan’s songs are about life, but not as we usually think of life. Susan Picking on the piano, has been likened to Carole King, Natalie Merchant. Sarah McLaughlin, and Norah Jones. On the Uke you might draw likeness in style to Patti Griffin, Alison Krause, or Celtic singer Niamh Parsons. Her arrangements are Americana influenced .......based in folk, pop, jazz, blues, bluegrass, and maybe even a little celtic. Fitting nicely into the vague category of Independant Artist, Contemporary Folk, Singer/Songwriter.
