B-52G simulator cockpit on display at Castle Air Museum in Atwater, California. This is an external view of the simulator, which is built into the side of a museum building.
The outside of the simulator carries the 93rd Bomb Wing insignia. The 93rd Bomb Wing operated B-52 aircraft at Castle AFB from 1955 until 1994.
Simulators like these were used at the former Castle AFB and other B-52 bases to build and maintain proficiency at a fraction of the cost (and risk) inherent in actual flight operations.
