Habbie Simpson (1550–1620) was the town piper in the Scottish village of Kilbarchan in Renfrewshire. Today Simpson is chiefly known as the subject of the poem the Lament for Habbie Simpson (also known as The life and death of the piper of Kilbarchan). Inhabitants of Kilbarchan are informally known as "Habbies" to this day.Kilbarchan's Steeple Building has an exterior niche which contains a statue of Simpson. The original statue was carved in wood by Archibald Robertson of Greenock and placed in the niche in 1822. The current statue, dating from 1932, is made of bronze and it replaced the original statue.

Me and a beat up display from a prop to promote The Simpsons the movie. It was originally placed in the cinemas for people to take picture with. After a few weeks of run in the cinema, it was moved to the DVD store. Homer's missing the remote. Couldn't get Bart in the shot as he was blocked by a poster.

19 abril.

I spent a lot of time in this neighbourhood during summer 2005. It brings back a lot of memories. I like the red and white colours for these street signs too.

Memorial to British cyclist at the spot on Mont Ventoux where he collapsed and died during the Tour de France. Passing cyclists leave bidons and other tributes. We drove up; I left my sunglasses. William Fotheringham has written an excellent biography of Simpson: Put Me Back on My Bike.
The panel includes Matt Groening (creator and executive producer), Al Jean (executive producer/head writer), David Mirkin (former executive producer), Matt Selman (executive producer), Michael Price (co-executive producer), David Silverman (director of The Simpsons Movie), Don Payne (consulting producer), and Yeardley Smith (voice of Lisa Simpson). Moderated by Bill Morrison.

Ink on white napkins.
We make these colored napkins daily for our two sons' lunches. They are both in grade school. We started these with our first son when he began first grade (5 years ago). These napkins have become fun to share with their tablemates, classes, and teachers.
Star Wars and the Simpsons are a particularly popular request by our sons!

One of the turbines (installed in early 1930's) sprung a leak whilst there so a combination of spanners and brooms were required to repair and clean up the mess.

Adjacent to the Kempton Park Racecourse at Sunbury On Thames on the Surrey Middlesex border (and a mile or so from where I grew up), passing motorists on the A316 elevated section see an old pumping house with two 165ft chimneys. This pump house houses the Kempton Steam Museum.
Inside are two 65 foot high, 1000 ton Worthington-Simpson triple expansion steam engines, one of which remains as the words largest working engine of its type. They were installed in 1927 pumping up to 38 millions gallons of water a day to London via a 48 inch wide pipe. Today Thames Water continue to run the site but using electric motors, pumping more than 70 million gallons into the London water ring main.
Inside the museum today work an army or volunteers in white coats maintaining the engines for the few "steam weekend" they hold in the year, plus supporting, smiling ladies in reception and the cafe whom couldn't be more welcoming and helpful.
Inside the conditions are generally spotless and accessible for all able bodied folk, with a delightfully nostalgic strong smell of engine oil and an overall appearance of a gigantic meccano building set.
kind of looks nothing like me, but options are kind of limited.
