At the head of Florida's Silver River, the Silver Springs depot is approached by a steamboat ca. 1887. The building is regarded as a Union Station because its purpose is to serve both a steamboat line and a railroad, in this case the rail line owned by the Florida Railway & Navigation Company. Taken at the Silver Springs Festival of Lights in Ocala, Florida. Note the disturbance in the water. Possibly a gator, fish, or turtle. It could even be Creature from the Black Lagoon!

In 1972, Silver Springs was declared a registered Natural Landmark by the United States Department of the Interior and the National Park Service.
