This shot has taken weeks to achieve, I've been waiting for the mist and the morning light to come together. Got it this morning! In the meantime I've discovered that Silver Birch are scrappy, messy trees and they don't like to have their photo taken :-)
A cruise ship on it's way into Hobart from the Tasman Sea. If you look closely you can also see another ship sighly below the horizon to the right.
The Silver-throated Tanager is mostly a species of middle elevations in a narrow band from Costa Rica south to Ecuador. This bird was seen at the edge of the Sierra de Talamanca in Costa Rica.
I was trying to highlight the contrast of the tree bark and autumn foliage on the silver birches. A full zoom to crop out some nearby telephone wires.

On a morning trip to Yateley Common I found this female Silver-studded Blue in some lovely long, wet grass. I had to sit and get soaked for a while however it was worth it. Shooting into the the grass and moisture give some magical effects.

Silver Lining I (2024)
Cast polyester resin
— Sujin Lim (Republic of Korea)
Decatur (Decatur Heights), Georgia, USA.
25 August 2024.
***************
▶ The sculpture is part of the Decatur Artway: a city-wide public art project of the Decatur Arts Alliance.
▶ Located in front of a Publix Supermarket, along the Stone Mountain Trail — really just a city-street sidewalk, here!
***************
▶ "Silver Lining makes visible our relationship with nature in public spaces. When you see bright stars at night, white clouds against the blue sky, or marvelous mountains covered with snow, do these seem real to you? Each aspect of nature has been depicted in some way by someone for some reason. The artwork will attempt to highlight humans’ relationship with nature by creating unique and uncanny scenery. The work will also offer time and space for audiences to contemplate the intersection of culture and environment, including how humans and nature are connected to and affect each other. Spectators will be able to experience man-made nature in Decatur's urban setting and the surrounding built environment."
— Sujin Lim
▶ Photographer's note:
Forgive me but, notwithstanding the above description, doesn't the sculpture resemble Stewie from the cartoon series Family Guy?

Late evening long exposure of the beautiful Silver River in Ocala Florida. If you ever get a chance to kayak or canoe this river, do it. This is one of the most beautiful rivers I have had the privilege to paddle.
From Silver Falls State Park in OR with Patrick Rodriguez, fall of 2015. Although I don't remember the name of this particular waterfall, it does take on a silvery look. I was immediately drawn to the natural contrast in this scene.
Thank you for your lovely visits my friends. You are very much appreciated! :)

Located in Dayton, Virginia, Silver Lake Mill dates to 1822 and was in operation as a flour mill until 1996. I've photographed the mill on a number of occasions but tried a slightly different perspective on this most recent visit. Information from a local news article.

"A Sensitive Plant in a garden grew,
And the young winds fed it with silver dew,
And it opened its fan-like leaves to the light.
And closed them beneath the kisses of Night."
