The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway is fondly called as the “Toy Train”. This toy train ride of Darjeeling is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and this popular ride connects Darjeeling with Siliguri. It is one of a kind experience and is one of the famous narrow 2 feet gauge trains. This amazing toy train runs between New Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling and it also passes through one of the highest stations in the world that is Ghum. A rather worn Common Jester butterfly in the Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary near Siliguri, West Bengal, India. The Common Jester is a species of nymphalid butterfly found in South Asia and Southeast Asia.

A ray of early morning sunshine catches a gorgeous male Crimson Sunbird in the Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary, near Siliguri in West Bengal, India. These birds feed largely on nectar, although they will also take insects, especially when feeding their young. Flight is fast and direct on their short wings.

In my official capacity, I need to visit Jalpaiguri. This place where Teesta Barrage is located is known as Gajoldoba. Morning looks so serene and calm with the reflection of Sun, transmission tower and Street light on water is almost perfect. I did not use any ND filter here. Shot was handheld and being a cloudy day, Sun was not so harsh either.

Siliguri to Darjeeling road is very beautiful as you we can see green tea gardens and and there are some roads leading to pine forests and along the hill road the scenic view is very nice all along!!

Gajon Festival In West Bengal

Being the main road between Siliguri to Alipurduar via Kalimpong road, this is one of the busiest highways in North East India. Never expected to get this road empty like this.

A female Orange Minivet in the Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary near Siliguri in West Bengal, India. The Orange Minivet is a member of the cuckooshrike family, Campephagidae. It is found in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.

There is something about a carpet of fallen leaves in a wood that fascinates me. I do not feel like disturbing the perfect beauty of a virgin carpet of leaves and at the same time I feel like walking on it and hearing the crunching sound beneath my feet.:-)
