He swooped down and grabbed a clump of grass, not sure if it was just grass or if he actually caught something that was bundled in there, he then flew back onto the post , sifted through the grass a little bit then flew off to a tree with the remaining stuff clenched in his talons. It was nice to see this side of him, well,.... it would have been nicer if he had glanced my way while in this flight pose..lol!!!

It sifts from leaden sieves
It sifts from leaden sieves,
It powders all the wood,
It fills with alabaster wool
The wrinkles of the road.
It makes an even face
Of mountain and of plain, —
Unbroken forehead from the east
Unto the east again.
It reaches to the fence,
It wraps it, rail by rail,
Till it is lost in fleeces;
It flings a crystal veil.....
An extract of a poem made by Emely Dickinson
Sifting for invertebrates in the muddy shallows on tidal pools at Cley Marshes in Norfolk (UK) (3644)

Unbroken forehead from the east
Unto the east again.

Till it is lost in fleeces;
It flings a crystal veil.

A common spoonbill (platalea leucorodia) probing and sifting through the shallows of a waterhole with sweeping movements of its broad bill. These birds have a varied diet of aquatic insects, mollusks, newts, crustaceans, worms, leeches, frogs, tadpoles and small fish. Photographed in Yala National Park, Sri Lanka.
Wish I was baking something but no just sifting for a long exposure photo. All my other ideas didn't work out and I was running out of time so flour will have to do.

Sifting through some old photographs and came across my first and only attempt at using a glass ball. I had given up on this image as the tree was inverted and I did not have the skills to invert. However a little perseverance and voila!

Before certain sites were built upon again after the buildings were demolished due to earthquake damage, archaeologists dug through the foundations. As the Maori has only lived in Christchurch since 1250 and European settlement did not start until 1840 there was never a wealth of history to dig up.
Stumbled across an older photo sifting through the archives. Caught how really spectacular the sunsets can be around here.

On stump and stack and stem, —
The summer’s empty room,
Acres of seams where harvests were,
Recordless, but for them.
It ruffles wrists of posts,
As ankles of a queen, —
Then stills its artisans like ghosts,
Denying they have been.

Their biggest mistake was underestimating a survivor.
A pair of Spoonbills sift through the mud swinging their bills from side to side.Food includes Crustaceans,Frogs,Insects and plant material.
Sifting through the images taken with the ELCC Marauders, I found two with these bottles and put them together to make a pano of this window shelf… most left is “Geo. J. Renner, PURE BEER, Akron, Ohio,” then “Queen City Pure Water 64 oz., Buffalo, N.Y.” at the end is “HORLOK’S MALTED MILK, Racine, WIS., London Eng.”
I checked these out and the histories of these companies, more than 130 years ago, is a great Google read. Equally amazing is the miners and workers of Los Cerrillos drinking beer, water and malted milk from the east coast! How did it get to New Mexico! How much did this stuff cost? Bottled water in 1888?
Recent heavy rains had flooded much of the lowland around Panama, in Sri Lanka. This painted stork (mycteria leucocephala) was one of several wader species to take advantage of the foraging opportunities offered by newly flooded land. Here is one of the birds that I saw on my magical walk yesterday. He and his companion often hover round the lake together. They were inquisitive and came right up close to have a good look at me. Probably after food I know, but they didn't seem too bothered that I didn't have any and just took pictures. I thanked them both and went on my way.
I hope the sun is shining wherever you are. It is a very dark and rainy day in England today, but the sun is still shining on the inside. Happy Sunday all, V :)))))

Sifting through the colours of our life.
