Reddish Egret (Egretta rufescens)

Just starting to get that pink bill. . .

A brown pelican begins take off along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico at Siesta Key, Florida.

I put this up on facebook recently and a lot of people seemed to like it so I figured why not put it here too! I have no 365's until I buy a new tripod anyway.

What tripod do you use and what do you think of it??

Well I talk about boys

Don't you know I mean boys

Well I talk about boys now

Ah, boys

Well I talk about boys now

What a bundle of joy

My girl says when I kiss her lips

Get the thrill thru fingertips

Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey

Yeah she said you do

Well I talk about boys

Don't you know I mean boys

Well I talk about boys now

Ah, boys

Well I talk about boys now

What a bundle of joy

Snowy Egret (Egretta thula)

Snowy Plover (Charadrius nivosus)

A bonus to one of my favorite shorebird photography locations is an abundance of Snowy Plovers. On this morning I had to do a bit of searching to find them and while walking the beach I just absolutely marveled at how well they simply blend in to the sand and how easy it would be to miss them if you weren't looking. Nature is so amazing.

Reddish Egret ( Egretta rufescens)

One of my all-time favorite birds to watch and photograph. This one put on a great show with lots of active foraging.

Sunrise from Bay Island Park overlooking Sarasota Bay.

After making several images from the edge of the bay, I decided to move back a bit to include the beautiful Palm trees in the scene. Doing so gave me the foreground that I was looking for while also providing a clearer focal point for the image. I was particularly drawn to the subtle glow on the palm leaves which I feel gives just enough depth to what would otherwise be a flat silhouette.
