Unfortunately I do not have the original Blacksuit that was given to me by Kevin B.'s mother in the mid 70s. He was probably the exact middle in height between these two. I lost him sometime in the late 80s. He was solid plastic of a more rugged variety. He was somewhere in detail between the two presented here. The smaller one here is my second version which I found online. It has less detail than the original and is thinner on a less durable plastic. Also, the color application is minimal compared to the original. The larger one here is taller and larger proportionally than the original, though it is hollow and has more intricate detail than the original. One day I still hope to find one like my original.
My original and the smaller one here were both cupcake toppers. In both cases I removed the spike at the bottom and tried to file down the base. The third one (the large one here) had no spike and simply has hollow feet. I imagine it was likely used to stand on a larger cake, as it's size seems to lean that way.

Yesterday, 17 August 2023, our temperature was in the low 30Cs, so I picked out a cold, winter scene to post this evening. However, we went from awful heat to a ridiculously chilly day today! A bit of rain, too. It all felt wonderful! However, even though we need the rain, there are so many places that are being devastated by wildfires, that desperately need rain, and a LOT of it!
"Well, I'm certainly glad that my daughter and I made this trip on 24th and not 25th October. Extreme winds on 25th, up to 172 km/hr along parts of Highway 22, with several huge container trucks/trailers flipped over on their side. Also, grass fires in fields, fueled by the strong wind. We were down in that whole area - it would have been dreadful the following day. Today's forecast, 26 October 2019, was for snow and strong winds, so I knew where I would sensibly be - home and hibernating! I cancelled out of a day trip south for today - sure enough, it is snowing this morning, with a temperature of 1C (windchill -6C).
On 24 October 2019, it was partly a repeat of my day three days earlier, which I had thoroughly enjoyed. This time, however, was my favourite kind of day - a day spent with my daughter and our cameras : ) I always try and think of places we could go where I know she will see some interesting and beautiful things. I knew that she would be able to see an old grain elevator, beautiful scenery, old barns and sheds, and anything else that we might come across. She also mentioned to me that Bragg Creek had their Scarecrows day yesterday, with some of the locals "competing" for the Best Scarecrow.
So, we combined everything into one great day, with sunshine and white clouds (that are always a bonus). Almost forgot to mention the wind that was just the same as three days earlier.
Maybe it is always windy down south.
We set off just after 9:00 am and headed south, where we could find the grain elevator. From there, we headed west, coming across several things that I had completely missed on 21 October. Obvious things, too, so I'm not sure how that happened. Once we reached the place I wanted to get to, we then turned north and headed for Bragg Creek. Such a contrast from wide open prairie farmland to forest. By that time, we were both feeling hungry, so we called in at one of the little restaurants in Bragg Creek.
My daughter had mentioned that Bragg Creek was holding a Scarecrow day, so we walked around the shops in the hamlet, looking at the various Scarecrow displays outside. We drove a few of the roads, too, discovering some different hand-made, life-size ones.
From Bragg Creek, we drove down Highway 66/Elbow Falls Trail as far as Forgetmenot Pond, stopping briefly at Elbow Falls en route. I knew snow was in the forecast for Calgary and the places we went to this day, so we made the most of the sunshine and clear ground while we could. Thanks so much, Rachel, for a great day spent together! My favourite kind of day. So glad you had a free day."

I wanted to debox a doll so badly today. I am having my dolly shelves moved soon so did not want to debox any of the other more fragile dolls, so the Spain Passport dolly came out.
Then I had to take some pics of her with the other Spain DotW. They are so different, to me they look like mother and daughter.
I pass this little military cemetery every day. It dates from the turn of the last century. And like many military cemeteries, although well maintained and treated with honor, these departed souls have no family members to leave flowers.
The oldest grave is that of Army Private George Johnson who died in March of 1904. Johnson was an African-American cavalryman of the 9th US Cavalry--a buffalo soldier. The 9th and 10th Cavs became well known in American history during the westward expansion.
Detailed photos of the Rapunzel Limited Edition Maquette by Enesco. She is part of the Walt Disney Archives Collection. She costs $175, half the original cost of the Elsa maquette. I ordered her from the Disney Store on October 3, and received her today (October 12). She was originally announced as LE 5000, to be released in February 2017, but was delayed many months and reduced in edition size. My Rapunzel is 207 of 1200. The number is on the Certificate of Authenticity, as well as under the base of the maquette. She is very pretty, and well painted, although there are a few minor paint flaws. There are some stray paint marks on her face, but they are not glaring errors. Her surface is rougher than that of the Elsa and Anna maquettes in the same series. She isn't as spectacular as the Elsa maquette, but I like her better than the Anna, and am very glad I got her.
I show Rapunzel alone from all angles. I also show her next to the Elsa and Anna maquettes. Rapunzel is 8 3/4 inches high, and with the base is 9 1/2 inches high. This compares to the 9 1/2 inch Anna (10 1/4 with the base), and the 9 1/4 inch Elsa (9 3/4 with the base).

Comparing two Designer Belle and Beast doll couples, from the Disney Store.
On the left is the Designer Princess Belle and Classic Beast/Prince dolls, from 2011. There was no Designer Beast in 2011, so I have to make do with the Classic Beast doll. Belle is on her custom doll stand. Her face and head mold are unique to this doll. She has a beehive hairdo, rooted antennae eyelashes, jeweled gold satin bodice, a golden organza skirt made of ruffled roses, multiple layered tulle petticoat, and gold gloves. She has golden earrings and is holding long stemmed red rose.
On the right is the recently released Fairytale Designer Belle and the Beast Doll Set. Since it is a limited edition doll set, and about double the price of the 2011 couple, the dolls are considerably more detailed and movie accurate. In particular, the Beast has a custom built body and head molds, and a very elaborate costume. He is also over an inch taller than the Belle doll, as well as being much wider. Unlike the play doll version, this Beast cannot be transformed into the Prince. Belle's face mold is the same as the 2013 version, but has a face paint that is considerably more movie accurate, in addition to having rooted eyelashes. Her hair is based on the 2012 Classic doll's hairdo, rather than the simpler and more movie accurate 2013 Classic doll. The side curls of the 2012 doll have been exaggerated in this Designer doll, to extend well past her neck. Her dress is very elaborate, with heavy use of golden embroidery and jewels, and the top half of her skirt is gathered. She has full length gold colored gloves, and floor length petticoat with lacy hem.
