This past week has seen a Decarbonisation Summit held at the Museum of Science and Industry on 07/06/2022 and 08/06/2022. Providing the shuttle service to and from Manchester Piccadilly Station was this electrically-powered Alexander Dennis Enviro400EV demonstrator, in full London red.

Shuttle route 533 is running again this week in the evening due to the closure of Hammersmith Bridge. Much to my surprise was the fact that the OVs from FW/PK are now fully blinded! OV8 is pictured here leaving the lower bus station.

I hesitate to describe last weekend as being relaxing, but there most definitely was a good deal of hobby type pleasure to be had. Some of Sunday was spent driving this old girl on a park and ride from Bala leisure centre, via the town to the slightly isolated Bala terminus of the lake railway. Plans are afoot to bring the railway into the town and therefore a greater audience, but until then, an occasional bus shuttle on high days and holidays will have to suffice.

In the above picture, Routemaster Buses (Nantwich) AEC RMC class Routemaster (RMC 1490 / 490 CLT) is seen parked opposite the railway terminus with the tip of the lake for a backdrop. 1490's rather a pleasant bus to drive, I have to say ... and I'm not even a Routemaster enthusiast. Its AEC 590 engine is a sweet running thing, and the rear air suspension aided by deep cushioned seats gives a very smooth ride on the occasions I got to be a passenger.

Fiat Iveco 49-10 with Robin Hood body on Elstree Hill Hertfordshire February 1993.

Due to resurfacing work on Brockley Hill, Stanmore Mon-Fri 22nd January to 6th February 1993, a free midibus service was sponsored by the London Borough of Barnet. which operated between the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and Sullivan Way on Elstree Hill. This covered for the double-deck LRT route 107 that was diverted via the Edgware Way between Spur Road and Brockley Hill. Luton & District supplied a driver and vehicle in the shape of this Robin Hood bodied Iveco midibus, here as it turned out of Sullivan Way onto Elstree Hill during February 1993. Effort was made to produce a proper slipboard and route number in the blind box. A safe reverse turn was completed at the junction seen to the rear of the bus.

On one of the first of the free shuttle buses to today's Crewe Heritage Centre event was one of Routemaster Buses trio of Olympians. Alexander 'RL' bodied H118 SAO is the oldest of them, but still looks absolutely immaculate and a credit to its owners. All the three of them are in some way different, this one being a Gardner powered Leyland built machine, whilst the intermediate one's Cummins powered and the newest a Volvo. Fuel consumption apparently increases by 2mpg with each of the above engines. The Gardner powered bus sees nearly 10mpg, the Cummins 8 and the Volvo struggles to achieve 6 ... such is progress!
