23/365 Those who are getting paid for making video on the DSLR platform can buy some beautifully engineered rod mount system. The rest of us either make our own or improvise using the cheap Cowboy Studio/Adorama shoulder support. Here's my effort using the provided offset and an old flash bracket to get the viewfinder to my eye level. My viewfinder is also DIY using a Cavision Monitor Hood Viewfinder System attached to a screen protector that mounts view the eyecup. I have a Giottos quick release so I can get the camera on and off quickly. I'm using 2x Pedco UltraPod II as handles &, hidden by the camera is my Zoom H4 with my pink noise cable allowing me to record and monitor sound on the H4 and feed the signal out to the 5D II mic input.

The camera plateform can be can be removed from the extension rods and mount it on the 45cm long rods directly for mounting the camera on the sideway. That way you will also not need the central bracket
The handle can be mounted on the extension rods also
The rods are 15mm, 60mm center-to-center distance, made of silver alluminum, the rods are threaded and hence the length of them can be increased to use further 15mm accessories such as follow focus, mattebox, lens support etc....
