This is the only the second time that I have been able to photograph this owl, although I have seen it and tried for years. It is also nice that I have captured it awake with its eyes open.

Thanks so much to all who choose to look at and comment on my images. It's very much appreciated.
So fun to photograph when they are active and conditions are conducive. Shorties and Hawk Owls are in a virtual dead heat for my favorite owl species to photograph.
This is a previously unposted picture taken in the year that Shorties were prevalent at a Manitoba location in late December.

Stay safe
Beautiful and close - it sat there, right in front of us. In the wind, between hail and rain showers. Feel sorry for them who has to do with this horrible long lasting weather

Some more Short-eared Owl shots. I suspect these MAY be recently fledged birds, especially the flying one as every feather looks sharp and new. There were 4, possibly 5 birds indicating that some of the youngsters have fledged.
This lovely Owl didnt mind me being there
As we were heading to the car, it sat there in fading light. Giving me lot of time to get a shot to come out right. Thank you, Owl!
