The Chorley Shop Local Art Project was established to promote small businesses on the east side of town. The boundary between the east side and the town centre is the Manchester to Blackpool railway track.
Mural have been placed in the bricked up windows of Phoenix Works, (originally Heald's iron foundry).
There is also promotional banner along the side of the pedestrian subway which links east Chorley with the town centre.

A brief history of Lake Anne Florist: an entrepreneurial adventure and a bit of the american dream.
In 1974 we began selling cut flowers from a Van parked at the entrance to Lake Anne Center, next to United Virginia Bank, (now Millennium Bank), known as “Flowers at Lake Anne”. This was accomplished with a down payment on a Van and $500 worth of equipment. In 1976 we moved indoors to 11412 Washington Plaza, expanded our services and changed the name to Lake Anne Florist. With strong growth and the need for more space we opened a store in Herndon with 4200 sf of space.
For three years during the 1980’s at Hunters Woods Center, we operated a Kiosk, selling fresh flowers and plants.The structure was designed by an architect so that the display area completely folded up and locked. We called this Blumenhaus.
At Lake Anne Center, a move to 1606 in the early 1990’s brought us closer to the entrance to the Plaza, but in 2002, the building was sold and we lost the space. We consolidated the business in Herndon, with the intention of reopening at Lake Anne Center when space became available – little did we know that it would take so long to find the right spot.
In May of 2007, our present location became available. Now, after 33 years as a florist I wanted to add a twist to the traditional product line. This resulted in Chesapeake Chocolates opening with us and making chocolates on site, as well as a selection of the wealth of wonderful food items made in the state of Virginia. It was my intention to sell Virginia Wines, but found the store must be open a year before applying for a license, so bear with us!!!
Meanwhile, we are holding Monthly Samplings of flower, food and chocolate of the month. We will of course, offer wines when they become available.
We love being at Lake Anne Center – it is a very special place for shopping, dining and enjoying the many activities, or just sitting on a bench and looking at the lake. We have two chairs by the front door with “water views” just waiting for you ...

This architectural salvage store is located at 216 East 125th Street (between 2nd & 3rd Ave) in Harlem. You can find all sorts of unique vintage items such as plumbing fixtures, doors, windows, shutters, railings, gates, grills, mantels, stone and terracotta pieces, and religious objects. This store is well worth the trip, but be advised the items are pricey. You can also view their inventory online.
