Dazzling shape displays join stormy, colorful skies and it amps things up even more. Good diagonal energy abounds. Warm and cool color contrasts weigh in to the overall effect.

With Noranda-bound tonnage in tow, Ontario Northland's gorgeous heritage unit rounds the bend at Boston Creek in the pouring rain. The chase is on.
Zero In
Dramatic lines swirl, creating a path towared a bullseye of sorts that hovers over a field of energy-charged color. Steel and concrete provide contrasting textures. It's an abstract of sorts since spatial relationships are hidden. The imagination must work for the story.

Towers rise into the mists of the stormy sky, seemingly reaching for the moon. Bold contrast shows off dynamic lines and patterns that create pathways for my eye to follow and details to explore.

A lingering shutter, and second look, a collection of time. Complexity matches the city vibe. People move through and fade into the distance. Buildings stand tall but take on different perspectives. Patterns dance and attract my eye. Colors morph a bit. This is what I catch in my peripheral vision.

Another day and another story on Ocean Beach. In the elements, three friends gather. They give perspective to the immense sea rolling in. The pale colors of the stormy day add to the atmosphere - make me feel like I"m there again.

Rainy days can gift some magic when I take time to stop and explore. An old parking lot shares colorful shapes, old tire tracks and reflected light posts creating a nice series of patterns, lines and angles. It invites exploration.

Night Storm
Beautiful light; wonderful shapes that repeat in a pattern; brilliant drama in color. All conspire to created a visual piece that calls for closer study. A single frame. No layers added. It is as shot with a color shift to deep red tones.

Shot as Seen
A brilliant yellow line pierces the sky as it drapes itself across the horizontal plane. Mysterious - certainly not from the light fixture it crosses. A billowing cloud and light splashed sky add patterns and details to explore. Nice contrast in both tones and color values creating a bit of energy. Sometimes reflections are just too good to pass by.

Just when I think I've finished shooting, this scene looms in the windshiel and demands attention. Trees rise into warm mists creating vertical pull for the landscape orientation. Lovely diagonals repeat and then repeat again as fir tips form patterns of delicate design. Dark against light gives contrast that contributes to mood.

A painterly sky - a piece of nature - joins a city scultpture - a piece of human. The contrast between defines shapes and textures and a bit of depth. Abstract, just for the fun of it.

Stunning light stopped me in my tracks and fixated me. An ordinary scene made extraordinary by the brilliance of the sun. Painted shadows play with abandon. Building facade is revealed in stark detail. Lacy patterns of tree branches adorn. Removal of color also removes distraction. B&W lets me see the elements in all their glory.

Making Time to Play
Inside the Broad Museum, art plays with light and reflection to create its own shapes and delight, that catch my eye. Framed within a frame, the selfie is born. Wonderful, curved spaces repeat over and over forming patterns that morph across surfaces changing contour and size. Brilliant warm colors add to the sense of play. Diagonal cants add drama and fun - it's a bit of a party - a celebration of art and appreciation - something happening.

Puddle Pedal
A parked bike shows off its silhouetted echo in rain soaked concrete. Circles duplicate and a bold vertical line anchors. Blue and gold hued concrete serves as negative space. Lines scramble a bit adding visual pathways and interest.

Giant statements of an architects imagination come to life rise on city streets just waiting for admiration. Grids of patterns decorate the beautifully lit buildings. Reflections, including the source of it all, dance in glass against a field of blue. Nice drama with the slight cant to the right. Spatial relationships are a secret in the urban fragment.

Sand
Sand dunes reach to the sky on the edge of our continent creating visual drama. Coarse textures of sand stand against a soft, moving sky, Each dune, kissed by the wind in its own individuality, form a pattern that builds strength.
