The Ugly duckling of the Hoosier leads train 851 through Dolton about to cross over just north of the diamond.

I wasn't trying to capture this Bald Eagle evacuating its bowels. I was merely taking its picture when it decided it was time to have a clear-out. I was quite surprised at the volume, or maybe length. Though from what I can see it seems to be urine rather than faeces. The main urinary excretory product in mammals is urea, which is highly soluble in water, so our urine is usually a clear liquid. The main product in birds (and reptiles) is insoluble uric acid which is in the form of small white crystals, so their urine looks like a kind of white emulsion. Now birds (and reptiles) only have one external opening into which excretory products from the intestine (ie faeces) and the kidneys (ie urine) are produced. This is known as the cloaca (which literally translates as sewer), and it is also the reproductive opening, which is why mating birds press their cloacas together. I digress, the undigested remains from the intestines are usually dark (but depends what the bird has eaten) and are coated with white urine, which is why bird droppings appear black and white.

Al het goede,

Komt van boven.

Een heilige moet daar,

Zeker in geloven!

Sneeuw, regen zelfs poep

| ♕ | Fifty Two Weeks ~ 04/52 |

I had a different plan for this weeks photo but it didn't work out. I guess that's part of the beauty of this project, you have time to do something right.

The coffee & the cup are actually from separate shots and this final image is a composite. It took a few attempts to get the timing right for the motion, but once we settled into a rhythm we nailed it. Hope you like it.

Go read my blog for some behind the scenes.

Daily Dog Challenge 1451. "Back To The Future"

Spent WAY too long on this shot, using Flickr to tramp private copies back and forth between the desktop Mac, my iPhone, and my iPad (really need to get iCloud photos set up)

Specifically, images went from:

1. Nikon camera - where the image was taken.

2. Desktop Mac (DM) - image imported into Lightroom, had basic processing done, then transferred to Photoshop Elements to mask it it off.

2. Flickr: image up to Flickr...

3. iPad - ... then down to iPad. Hold that thought.

Meanwhile...

3. iPhone - A plain black image that I had stashed on Flickr was downloaded to my iPhone, where I added the lightening using the PhotoStudio App.

4. Flickr - Lightening image up to Flickr and then...

5. iPad - down to iPad, where it was merged with the main crate shot (#3) in the Procreate App and the "smoke clouds" was painted in (Procreate is an art app).

6. Flickr - image moved up to Flickr...

7. DM - ... and back down to the desktop Mac. At this point I realized the EXIF data had been stripped out. Rats. So...

8. DM - A copy of the original (#2) image was made in Lightroom and was opened in Photoshop Elements, where it was overwritten by the image from 7, this returning the EXIF data to the shot (I hope).

8. DM - back into Lightroom for a final crop and minor touch ups and then...

9. Flickr - up to Flickr one last time.

Yay!

Starling menace -

....................................................................................................................

Starlings are noisy birds, and outside the breeding season they often form large to very large swarms. Especially in orchards with fruit trees, they can cause a lot of damage. To avoid this, you may want to spoil the spree. Spreeuws sometimes sleep in large numbers in trees in residential areas leading to stench (noise) and noise. Spreeuwen cause a lot of trouble in many municipalities. As soon as the dusk enters, they fly with thousands at the same time to their permanent place to sleep. That gives a lot of noise nuisance caused by large amounts of feces and stench.

many thanks for all your comments and things!!

there is rain due next week so hope i can catch up then : )

Went through the Hockneyizer on bighugelabs. I think I might do my very own Hockney-esque with a disposable camera. Waaaa that's going to take forever. So cool though.
