Zac's wearing my shirt, 'cause he lost his knapsack with his costumes and clean clothes, poor guy. In this shot it's hard to tell what Melissa's right leg is doing... it's straight, with her foot against his shin. Her left leg is also straight, but it's directly in front of her, parallel to the right leg.

No Long Run for me this weekend.
I have injured my leg. Shin Splints got worse.
After a 2 mile run Wednesday, and Elliptical on Thursday night... shins got worse.
I tried water running for the first time yesterday. Felt good.
Might have to go to the doctors. Will try Yoga, Cycle, Water Running, and Ibupofren this week.
Wish me luck!
a run that did not last very long - stopped without finishing... my shins are killing me. will rest them one more night and try again in the morning. note to self: when i get to los angeles, buy new running shoes.

Today was the day that I felt very very sorry for myself because I'm having some major shin splints problems at the moment. Nothing for it but to ice and take super strength ibuprofen. And start researching for physiotherapists.
after getting home from the race last night i poured myself a cold one and settled in to watch the race coverage that i had Tivo'd. it was interesting to get to see the same race i'd just run from another perspective. at one point during the start i was even able to pick myself out as a tiny spec in the crowd from the overhead helicoptor shot. but i figured that was going to be my only moment of fame. that was until they started showing coverage from the first relay exchange point -- and all of a sudden, i ran right through their shot! of course i had to take a picture.
Laura, my sister-in-law had mentioned she was running her first 5K the same weekend I was visiting in town. So I decided to join her, and run the 10K. I actually didn't sign up for the race, 'cause I wasn't sure how my shin splints were going to be by then. So the day of, I pretended to be her friend, Melanie, who didn't show up (busy getting engaged), and I took her spot.

Presenting... Laura. My sister-in-law. I was so glad she mentioned this race, and I was happy that we got to run together at least once before the race. Now I know I will have a new running partner when I come to Canada.
She did great on her 5k by the way!! 33 Mins some seconds.
It turns out Laura is a physical therapist. Double bonus. She showed me how to tape my shins so the muscles can stay closer to the bone. It really helped. Didn't hurt at all while running.
