A long exposure, landscape image of waves washing ashore on the black beach of Vik in Southern Iceland.
A squally, stormy morning, yet the sands at Luskentyre sometimes seem to glow in these conditions, giving an impression of endlessly shifting moods.
Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for your kind comments, awards and faves -- I appreciate them all.

The southern tip of Canada’s Point Pelee National Park is the farthest south one can go on mainland Canada. Most of the park is either marsh or Carolinian forest, but this small tip extending out into Lake Erie is sand. This beach is constantly changing because of winds, lake currents and water levels.

On a recent trip to Door County Wisconsin, I stopped by the legendary Anderson Dock.
When I first got there to scope it out, it was raining with a sustained wind of at least 20-30 MPH. Not real good odds of getting a picture. As I waited around for sunset, the rain finally stopped and the sun poked out for just a few minutes to get this shot. I felt fortunate to get something for my trouble.
Per the Door County Pulse website... After Norwegian brothers Aslag and Halvor Anderson recognized the need for a deepwater dock in Ephraim, they constructed one in 1858. Throughout the 1880s, steamers arriving at the dock — most notably from the Goodrich Transportation Company — brought much-needed goods and much-appreciated tourists, and this activity ultimately vitalized Ephraim. Although the dock’s warehouse — the present-day Hardy Gallery — was built to store merchandise, it became a visible reminder of the sailors and ships that had stopped there.
Emily Irwin, outreach director and curator for the Ephraim Historical Foundation, explained that sailors arriving in Ephraim painted the name of their ship and the date on the side of the building as a way to mark their visit.
It’s a bit of a mystery exactly when the graffiti tradition began, but sailors were known to write on the warehouse from around 1910 into the 1950s, perhaps to express their relief and gratitude for a safe passage through the notorious Death’s Door waters, or simply to commemorate their arrival in Ephraim.
In 1949, the Ephraim Historical Foundation purchased the dock and warehouse from the Anderson family, and in 1961, the foundation leased the building to the Hardy Gallery. Through these shifts, however, the graffiti tradition has remained intact, with the public picking up where the sailors left off.
Capture from this summer late in the evening in the north of Norway. Two vertical landscape shifts stitched in LR and final touches in PS. At least one week for the next upload to Flickr. See you all!

The “line_up“ is a paperwork series I developed since 2010. The “liners” are made out of paper (Din A3/A4),
oil paint and graphite. The theme is the hermetical laws of polarity and movement. There is no ending and no beginning in any direction, just an endless movement. You have the possibility to arrange the papers like you want and that makes it an endless playground for my photo-work and the eyes of the viewers.

When we got to the sand dunes on the Oregon coast, we rented a dune buggy in North Bend. I didn't even try to do the driving - we rented a double and my husband drove. We hit air once going up over a hill and I was hanging on tight, and I might have even let out a bit of a scream :) But when we were all done, I realized it was actually so much fun! And the beauty was amazing. I couldn't shoot from inside the buggy because of the blowing sand, and only got out a couple of times to capture the beauty of the dunes.

28th March 2017 - The night shift pause for a quick photo during the tying off of ACL's G$ 'Atlantic Star'.
The season, the light, the snow, and life - they all shift with time. I signed and actually "bought" my house today. I feel the whole world shifting (and no, that's not just the wee toast we had to celebrate.)
Just above Winnemucca Nevada off US-95 there's are some sand dunes which I've been meaning to stop and photograph. Well, finally did that yesterday, before heading into town for dinner and fuel. I was glad I wear cowboy boots, because I climbed up a steep sand dune next to the highway and the sand was very loose and my boots sank above my ankles until I got to the top. Nice bit of exercise.
