We tell ourselves stories in order to live. The princess is caged in the consulate. The man with the candy will lead the children into the sea. The naked woman on the ledge outside the sixteenth floor is a victim of accidie, or the naked woman is an exhibitionist, and it would be “interesting” to know which. We tell ourselves that it makes some difference wether the naked woman is about to commit a mortal sin or is about to register a political protest or is about to be, the Aristophanic view, snatched back to the human condition by a the fireman in priest’s clothing just visible in the window behind her, the one smiling at the telephoto lens. We look for the sermon in the suicide, for the social or the moral lesson in the murder of five. We interpret what we see, select the most workable of the multiple choices. We live entirely, especially if we are writers, by the imposition of a narrative line upon disparate images, by the “ideas” with which we have learned to freeze the shifting phantasmagoria which is our actual experience.
Or at least we do for a while.

1500 LE (Limited Edition) cars were produced in 1993. This model featured red leather interior, upgraded stereo, Nardi shift knob, leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise, limited slip differential, power windows, power mirrors, power steering, air conditioning, BBS wheels, Bilstein shocks, front and rear spoilers, ABS brakes, stainless sill plates, and Harley style peanut tank door speaker trim. All 1993 LE cars came in black.
When a solar prominence began to rotate into a position to give us a side view perspective of it, we got a great view of the interaction of strands of plasma shifting back and forth above the Sun's surface (Apr. 8, 2015). Prominences are elongated clouds of plasma suspended above the SunÕs surface by magnetic forces. The image was taken in extreme ultraviolet light. The video covers about 6 hours of activity. Looking at this shot, I can't help but think how much cooler it would look if that were a Lamborghini behind me instead of... whatever's under that blanket. If anyone has a Lamborghini they wouldn't mind lending me, that'd be very much appreciated. I'm willing to pay up to and including $5. Yep, a whole Lincoln.
I like working the night shift because when I get out at midnight I've got a large, pretty much empty parking garage to play in. I could use some ideas, any of you folk taken a good garage/parking structure shot? Lemme see!
Strobist: 430EXII shot through 60" white umbrella about 5 feet to my left, 1/8th power. There's supposed to be a another flash behind me lighting up the ceiling to the right, but the cheap trigger had stopped working by this point. Looking at it now though I don't think that would have made it better, so happy accident there.
52 weeks of 2025/week 40 Tilt shift
The Brief:
A tilt shift photograph is very distinctive creating the illusion of miniaturisation of the subjects such as cars and people in a landscape setting. This effect may be created in two ways as described in this article.
Taken using Nikon miniaturisation effect. Adjusted in GIMP for extra radius blur, saturation and contrast, as suggested in the video.

Week 36 ~ Taken September 3rd
The girls and I went to Powerscourt for a wander on Tuesday, partly to try and find a "Tilt Shift" or Model effect subject for this weeks theme and partly because it was a glorious day here and it's such a beautiful place to be when the sun shines.
We sat and snapped photos overlooking the Japanese gardens for a while eventually going to sit in the Pagoda in this pic. We were still sitting here at 5:30 when the "We're closing bell" rang out. It's such a peaceful and wonderful place to sit that time genuinely does fly by so fast..
Not the most technically perfect of tilt shift shots, but when I looked back over my Photos of the day, I knew this is where I wanted my pic to be of..
Taken from the Empire State Building, with a Nikon D300, using a Sigma 10-20mm lens. Post processed tilt shift effect.
This is an HTC Shift sitting on top of a Panasonic R4 and a Toshiba U305. 7", 10.4", and 13.3" inch displays, respectively. The shift would look much smaller if not for the leather wrap-around cover that is not designed to be detached (thanks to the FCC). The Shift runs Vista, but in this photo I have it running in HTC's SnapVUE (Windows Mobile) mode.
A Tilt & Shift type picture of Tower Bridge. Taken on the Canon 10-22mm lens, then tilt/shifted in Photoshop Afterwards
