The Shell Collection, which is specially designed for FueraDentro by the dutch designer Jan des Bouvrie, consists of two chairs, a bank sofa, four tables and a sunbed. The fibers of the chairs, sofa and sunbed are made of Batyline and the frames are made of stainless steel. This combination of materials makes the SHELL collection ideal for outdoor use.
The most notable characteristics of the SHELL collection is the rounded shape of the shelllike bucket seat, which brings a stunning sense of shelter. The seatings are carried out in a coaxial structured Batyline® fibre. The frames are made of electro-polished stainless steel and the tabletops are glass.

Trying not to get too excited to be headed back down to the Gulf this summer, theres still too much to do between now and then, so reliving past trips by seeing if I missed any photos from before....this was a clear miss in the files.

Shell Eco-marathon Asia - the Urban Concept class. Over several days, teams make as many attempts as possible to travel the furthest on the equivalent of one litre of fuel. Cars drive a fixed number of laps around the circuit at a set speed. Organisers calculate their energy efficiency and name a winner in each class and for each energy source. (photo by Ben Cho)
I will never forget how this shell landed in my possession. Our family took a trip to the Bahamas and we usually ended up off of the beaten path. We rented a car and explore the island and ended up on a dead end road that ended at a small stretch of beach. We got out to look around and saw this very tan, weathered man with long hair. As soon as he saw us he quickly turned and disappeared into his house. My dad said we should probably go. By the time we were in the car and looked up he was standing in front with a large bucket in one hand and a shell in the other. He was such a nice man. The experience was the gift of a lifetime. The shell is just a bonus.
Size approx of each shell 18mm.

A close-up of the Pavilion at the South Pond in Lincoln Park. I love the detail of it. The Pavilion was inspired by the tortoise shell, its laminated structure consists of prefabricated, bent-wood members and a series of interconnected fiberglass pods that give global curvature to the surface. It was designed by the architect group Studio Gang.
