She's just a girl, and she's on fire
Hotter than a fantasy, lonely like a highway
She's living in a world, and it's on fire
Feeling the catastrophe, but she knows she can fly away
I found some old vintage slides at a Yard Sale. The slides are from the early 1960's and are mostly of Dixon, Illinois and the surrounding area. These were orphan photos, I just gave them a home. I am not the photographer of these slides/photos.

Mom has been in Kingston for the past few weeks which meant a serious lack of coffee chats in the morning as we brace ourselves for reality to hand out a swift backhand and remind us of the true nature of cubicle dwellings.
But today, she's back, and to commiserate the misery and upcoming madness of her return, we caffeinated early on.
I'm sure her office is ecstatic to have her back and hard at work.
Hope everyone has had a good day.

After catching and killing a prairie dog, Coyote trotted over to some tall grass to consume her meal. This worked out well for me, because that brought her in close - this image is only slightly cropped, whereas the previous kill shot was heavily cropped. When only a scrap of hindquarters remained, she carried it away, past me and across the dogtown until she disappeared from sight over a little hill. I moved on, too... in search of other prey.

I was watching this female northern flicker keep peeking her head out of the hole. Then she darted out, up to a nearby tree where her partner was waiting. After some birds and the bees action, she flew off and the male flew back to check on the nest.

Greater Angle-wing Katydid (Microcentrum rhombifolium) - Residential Space Coast Florida
Maybe she did, or maybe she didn't,
either way it seems she's workin' some kinda angle!
Microcentrum rhombifolium
Hmmm . . .
Centrum - Latin for center (as-in bent at the center with this guy)
Rhombus - parallelogram with four equal sides
Folium - a thin leaflike structure
Works for me!
Not my usual genre but sometimes a certain type of person and scenario takes me, then you get busted at the last minute and are rewarded with a smile to light a million fires, good girl.
I can't part with this girl no matter how much I try <3
I put this wig on her and fell in love all over again.
So I think i'll put my Gabie up for a feeler instead. Sorry to dissapoint anyone who wanted to adopt Pom. :)
Vivienne and Mirelle Part 2: The Message
Discovered three days after Mirelle disappeared. Not by accident. Not in haste. Left where only someone like Vivienne would find it—and only if she was looking.
It was a quiet evening. No appointments. No meetings. The Ravenwood’s operations ran smoothly below. But Vivienne wasn’t there.
She was upstairs—in her private residence atop the hotel, lights dimmed, gloves off, combing out her hair like she hadn’t since that night.
The hidden panel in the armrest clicked open beneath her fingers—automatic, familiar. She wasn’t reaching for anything.
And yet there it was.
A piece of silk, small and torn, tucked neatly inside. Pale cream. Familiar. Not perfumed. Not folded like a lover’s keepsake—folded like intel.
Vivienne stared at it for a moment, not touching. As if picking it up would confirm what she already knew.
It was from Mirelle.
There was a stitch along the hem. Barely visible—unless the light hit just right. A pattern Vivienne recognized. Threaded in tight: a cipher.
No encryption. No deception. Just a message.
Hand-stitched. Intimate. Final.
You never asked me to stay
I stayed anyway.
That’s on me.
I learned more than I should have.
That’s on you.
—M.
No name. No return path. No signal trace.
Just the signature—a single letter. Deliberate. Knowing. Irrevocable.
Vivienne sat back. She didn’t speak. She didn’t call Omalley. She didn’t pour a drink.
She just held the silk in one hand—light as a promise, sharp as memory—and breathed.
Then, slowly, she folded it. Once. Twice. Again.
Slid it into the same hidden compartment. Closed it.
And walked to the console.
That night, the Ravenwood played no broadcasts. No vinyl.
Just analog static—quiet, constant.
And she did leave the lights on when she went to bed.
Addendum to Part 2:
A professional assessment. A personal breach.
Hours later, Vivienne sat at her desk with the silk unfolded on the surface.
She wasn’t reading the message again—she was analyzing the stitch.
She ran it through three filters. Checked the thread’s weave density. Logged the cipher angle. All habitual. All precise.
And then she stopped.
Not because she was done.
Because she realized she was trying to turn grief into intel.
And there was no dossier in Sky Port Bury that would ever explain why she let Mirelle in.
She closed the file without saving. Walked away.
Some knowledge didn’t belong in archives.

SHE - Dorotea Saykaly
Choreographer : Dorotea Saykaly
Revolving around identity while tripping on doubt, the solo SHE draws inspiration from the novel The Passion according to G.H. by Clarice Lispector – in which the female protagonist, alone in a room, confusingly and sensually talks through her existential and spiritual crisis.
Through movement, distortion and an interview with a phantom interrogator, the work morphs in and out of different states and proposes looking at a questioning body through a female lens.
Choreography, Written and Performed by Dorotea Saykaly
Music: Riku Mäkinen
Costumes Conception: Carla Romagnoli
Lighting Designer: Erwann Bernard
Outside Eye and Consultant: Eve Garnier
