クラシカルシェービングの歴史が深いイギリスをはじめとするヨーロッパではとてもポピュラーなメーカーである「Parker」
インドにある会社だ。
同社のセイフティレーザーは世界的に有名だけど、Shavette(替刃式ストレート)もリリースしている。
主力はプラスティックハンドルタイプなのだけど、SR1というオールステンレスモデルがあって、このSRXは更にその上のグレード、フラッグシップモデルとして今年リリースされた。
Heavy Duty Professional Stainless Steel Straight Edge Barber Razorというだけあって、重量があるバーバーモデルだ。
今まで使ってきたフェザーよりも重い。
I received my new “Holy Black” shavette / straight razor / throat slicer from New York State a few days ago. I’m quite pleased with the build and the real bone handle. For the price, I am quite pleased. I’m not going to say there weren’t rivers of blood in the sink or chunks of flesh from my face in the sink the first time I used it. I’ve been using DE “safety” razors so long I forgot you can’t shave at the same speed with an unprotected blade. Not this adorable little “throat slicer’s” fault. I like to be positive about things. It gave me an opportunity to open and use the Bactine Max Advanced Healing + Scar Defense hydrogel.
One of the things I really like about this razor is that it takes a full DE blade. You don’t have to snap it in half. This helps me because I can’t see very well without my glasses and I don’t take them into the bathroom to shave/shower. I have to use two blades (or more) when I shave, so about halfway through, I can just open up the “Holy Black” and flip the blade over. As far as I’m concerned, if a razor holds a whole DE blade, it’s a “DE” razor. :-)

orange handled razor is a shavette, uses a replaceable razor blade which is 1.5 inches in length
bottom razor is a traditional striaght with a blade length of nearly 3". I recently replaced the scales on the bottom razor with a set of rosewood scales. Surprisingly light with the total weight coming in at 35 grams...the shavette weighs 25 grams. Another 6/8 razor of mine I weighed weighs 52 grams
