Bought a few rolls of Shanghai GP3 100 while I was in Toronto. Turns out the 1st roll is quite damaged (manufacturing defect), giving it a particular effect.

There was some fairly strong vignetting in the upper corners, and Affinity Photo 2 was used to remove it.
I printed 8.5" x 11" proofs of all three versions of this subject. The first one works the best. The other two are just too harsh, too many sharp jagged lines. I never quite know what will make the transition to the real world.
No streaks on this sheet, so it was one of the good ones.
I shot three sheets of 8x10 at this spot, two GP3 100 and one with the mishandled 3XTP20 [jumbled so it won' t come up in a search]. Then three sheets at the other spot up in the mountains. At $3-4/sheet it may seem like a big expense, but it was minor compared to the cost of fuel to drive the FJ Cruiser 300 miles that day.

December's camera is the Baby Rolleiflex, which was made in Germany c1932 and uses 127 film. It's a bit scruffy, but everything works.

First photo with Poco, first with the G-Claron 240/9, and the first time backpacking with them. Only a 1/4 mile hike across an abandoned property, but that's still a backpacking trek.

The Mobil station at Bradys is in various stages of decay. The pumps are modern, and so is the charging station. If you want to buy a cold drink from inside, it might take five minutes for the elderly proprietor to come out to take your money. This service garage on the property is long abandoned, and who knows when the roof caved in.

I got some atrocious 3x4 results yesterday, then remembered a couple photos that Sue-Elleanor antiqued with toning and reverse vignetting. Gave it a try with this one.

I suspect that my box of 3¼ x 4¼ Shanghai GP3 100 is an earlier emulsion than what I am shooting in 8x10. And most of the sheets have these blotches that mottle skies.

Wetting agent is destroying my processing. But I am learning everyday. Need to do wetting agent on another tray and not in the tank. Next question, how do I bloody get rid of this wetting agent in the tank? Rinse it in soap?

Tried to keep a shallow depth of field here to isolate this small grove in the trees, set the aperture to f4.0 and hand held at 1/60th.
The level of detail that the Carl Zeiss Planar T* 80mm lens continues to blow me away, even at f4.0 the area in focus is tack sharp.
The gallery where I will be exhibiting my work is just beyond this forest area. I was checking out the gallery & where i will hang my print so I grabbed the Hasselblab and shot a quick roll of Shanghai while I was there.

My first 4x10.
Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes, Death Valley National Park.
I found this scene after hiking 2.15 miles across the dunes with my 30 lb. 8x10 kit on my back. Total hike was 2.65 miles. Lots of changes to the terrain from all the water that the tropical storm remnants of hurricane Hilary dumped. For a brief time, this was the shoreline.

"Night Moves" series
A crescent dune as the subject, another crescent dune off to the right, the backside of a crescent dune to the left, and a whole lotta crescent dunes on the other side of Salt Creek. Everything you see here that is flat was a torrent of water when the tropical storm remnants of hurricane Hilary dumped a year's worth of rain on Death Valley in a day. In many places, things are still gooey. At times, I had to walk on the tops of the dunes because the flats were too gooey.
After taking this photo, I took a nap in the crook of this dune while waiting for the sun to lower and improve the shadows. But, weather moved in and obscured the sun.

How not to build a lighthouse: The Cape St George Lighthouse was built on the southern peninsular of Jervis Bay in 1860 and starting before it was constructed, it was mired in controversy. It's location was selected without consultation of the Pilots Board and it had poor visibility from both north and southern approaches resulting in a number of ship wrecks during it's commission. It was decommissioned in 1889 and a new lighthouse build on the northern peninsular of the bay, however, it continued to cause problems for shipping because the sandstone it was constructed in would reflect the light of a full moon causing confusion to shipping. In the early 1900s it was destroyed.
