A menacing and sinister looking cloud sat over an apartment building on the far bank of the reservoir. As it churned and blustered it reminded me of my high school English class in Shakespeare. How it too would carry on in some indignant way that would have no effect.

Trying to find something different for the returning Shakespeare yesterday (there's not). I missed the classic approaching Dorridge shot, so this is a look back to 2011 when GWR 5043 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe took charge.

The Shakespeare Express's stalwart locomotive for many years was GWR 4965 Rood Ashton Hall seen leaving Stratford Upon Avon at Bishopton (this site is now Parkway Station) Sept 2011

Vintage Trains use diesel units only for the first two Sundays of their Shakespeare Express 2022 season owing to a network steam ban in the Midlands. However on the 31st July GWR 7029 Clun Castle headed its first Shakespeare Express of the season through Dorridge. However because of the continuing high risk of line side fires it was assisted by a class 47 diesel locomotive at the back.
This Holly bush sits in front of my parent's home in Homosassa, Florida. On top of the holly bush sits a mockingbird named Shakespeare. He's spent the last four winter's right in the same spot and while I was there I saw him sitting there every day. For a mockingbird, he doesn't sing much unlike my parent's dog Heidi who loves to sing. I think this is because he is not too interested with courting and prefers to spend the days eating the Holly berries. Another more logical explanation is that Shakespeare is most likely a female who tend to sing less than the male.
Some things you may not know: The northern mockingbird is the Official State Bird of Florida. Florida designated the nothern mockingbird (Mimus polyglottos) as the official state bird in 1927. Northern Mockingbirds have extraordinary vocal abilities; they can sing up to 200 songs (except Shakespeare it would seem), including the songs of other birds, insect and amphibian sounds (even an occasional mechanical noise). The northern mockingbird is also the state bird of Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee and Mississippi. Interesting picks considering it's a northern mockingbird.

The River Avon and Holy Trinity Church in Stratford-upon-Avon. Holy Trinity church is a beautiful medieval church that contains William Shakespeare's grave as well as his burial and baptismal records.

Shakespeare's Globe is a reconstruction of the Globe Theatre, an Elizabethan playhouse first built in 1599 for which William Shakespeare wrote his plays. Like the original, it is located on the south bank of the River Thames, in Southwark, London. The reconstruction was completed in 1997 and while concentrating on Shakespeare's work also hosts a variety of other theatrical productions. Part of the Globe's complex also hosts the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse for smaller, indoor productions, in a setting which also recalls the period.

The engineer of 568 has all 3 geeps in notch 8 as they struggle to get moving after working SMI bulk transfer in the background. Leading the days train was one of 7 recently acquired UP GP38-N's (GP38-2 under CN). Although shooting the ancient fleet of geeps CN has is nice, shooting a geep with a near factory fresh paint job is always a treat.

I picked these Cecile Brunner climbing roses out of our garden...they have the loveliest fragrance! The book is Shakespeare (Romeo & Juliet), printed in 1901. It's part of a collection of 16 Shakespeare books that we have.
