Golden hour in Tonto National Park, Arizona. Driving down the mountain, there's no telling what will be revealed around the next curve.
A view of the Big Pine volcanic field with the Sierra Nevada mountains in the background with yet another one of the winter storms that came through California and dropped historical amounts of snow in the mountains. The snow you see up on the mountain peaks came in a two week stretch which is amazing when you think about the base at the time this was taken was already over 400 inches and now in some places, it is double that.
The prominent cinder cone in the foreground is the Fish Springs cinder cone.

Founded in 1832, Caibarién, a small town located in North Central Cuba, with distinctive 19th century architecture, has become rundown and scruffy in parts, but such a charming & interesting place to visit. Caibarién is a fishing town and the main port for the province of Villa Clara, in Cuba.

In the distance the villa Kerylos, a palace inspired by ancient Greece on the French Riviera.
The last photo I posted was taken in the same place during the morning golden hour. I loved the place so much that I decided that i'd head back for Sunset. I'd also researched that the position of the sun for sunset would mean that the light would be on the right hand side this time, and the tide would also be in, making it look very different from how it looked in the morning.
Blea Tarn is a very pittoresque little tarn situated in the Little Langdale Valley. For this image I walked down to the tarn. I opted for a vertical format to use the rocks as foreground element. Dramatic sunlight illuminated the Langdale Pikes whilst the slopes of Piko of Blisco and Side Pike were in the shadow.

The National Theatre on London's Southbank sits next to Waterloo Bridge and overlooks the river Thames. The architecture of the building strikes a 'love it or hate it' chord with a lot of people. Anyone that knows my photos will know that I fall firmly into the 'love it' camp and this photo illustrates why. Yes, it can be a drab piece of grey concrete on a grey London day. But just look at what it also can be! When the sun is low in the sky and the light is right and the shadows are being cast like they are here, well, even the most hard-hearted brutalist architecture hater will surely be swayed.

Ennerdale water in the last light of a winter sunset, This a day where sun did not shine of the right hand of the scene. The mist was starting to form as the temperature dropped again.

Some early morning sunshine breaks thru the storm clouds to highlight spots here and there on the Sawtooths and around Little Redfish Lake. I was able to get a bit of reflection before the winds picked up.
I'd rather have stormy skies like this than all blue.....
