Columbia High School group continues their peer education project. Today they spoke to the senior high school about the dynamics of sexual violence and the continuum of violence. Guest speaker, Serria, shared her personal story of triumph and recovery after sexual abuse. The presentation wrapped up with a discussion about consent. The audience used WCSAP SAAM "Yes Means Yes ____ Means Know" cards and came up with a variety of ways to say 'no.' Tomorrow, Megan, Jessica and Payton will facilitate learning centers where participants will learn about healthy relationships, consent, seeking help and more.

The Army's Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) program exists so the Army can prevent sexual harassment and sexual assaults before they occur. Our goal is to eliminate sexual assaults and sexual harassment by creating a climate that respects the dignity of every member of the Army Family.
Throughout the month, Tripler held showings of the "Invisible War," staffed information booths at the main entrances, encouraged staff to participate in Denim Day, and held an observance ceremony April 26.

The future is looking bright thanks to young people like Madisson. She devoted her culminating senior project to sexual assault prevention. She shared the fruits of her labor with us today at our staff meeting. Way to go, Madisson!

Naval Support Activity Bethesda (NSAB) members gave presentions during Denim Day, April 25, as part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month in the rotunda of Walter Reed National Military Medical Center's historic Bldg. 1. Denim Day is a yearly event inspired by a court case in Italy that brought attention the problem of victim-blaming, where victims of sexual assault are accused of wearing clothing that was "too tight" or "too revealing."
