Get the story here. Excerpt from the woman who got the ball rolling (who happens to be a stellar former student of mine) : "Porn is a business and its workers should be contracted while they're sober and paid with money, not T-shirts, hats and underwear."
You rock, Liz.
EDIT: interesting bit of info left out of the student newspaper version, but noted early in The Herald-Times piece: "He [the club owner] said he’ll be meeting with an Indiana University student who had put up the 'guaranteed' money to bring the production to Bloomington to negotiate a settlement over the cancellation." + "News accounts report that 'Girls Gone Wild' events sometimes command a $10,000 guarantee for Mantra Entertainment."
Now, what kind of undergraduate has 10K to front? Seriously.

"This bill would require the Illinois Attorney General to develop model policies for courthouses, schools, libraries, medical facilities and shelters on how to handle ICE activities at their locations."
A rally and press conference was held on Tuesday afternoon April 10th at the Daley Center in downtown Chicago to call attention to the fact that the state of Illinois is one of fourteen states yet to pass the Equal Rights Amendment.
The Equal Rights Amendment states that: "Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any state on account of sex". The E.R.A, would provide legal protection for women in various ways including gender-based violence, equal pay, and pregnancy discrimination.
70% of America's poor are women. This also affects the children who depend on them.
Women make up roughly half the workforce and constitute two-thirds of minimum wage workers.
Women earn 79 and 44% of what men make adjusted for their race. The latter figure applies more to blacks and Hispanics.
Women are twice as likely to retire in poverty as men.
Passing the E.R.A. would ensure that employers could not give women less pay for doing the same work as a man.

Sunny, having unveiled her exceptional "There's no such thing as a slut" shirt. This was the key theme of her talk. It's just not a concept that should exist, and there's little sense in trying to reclaim it. The crowd was asked how many of them had been called "sluts" at some point in their lives, and an awful lot of hands (including mine) went up. People experienced this even as children. And, sadly, many of us have at one time called someone else a "slut" or thought of them that way. Using the word "slut" means you accept the idea that there's something bad about enjoying sex and sexuality, and that there's something wrong with people who refuse to pretend there is.

The SlutWalks in Toronto, Ottawa, and other Canadian cities were held in response to a comment made by a Toronto police officer that women could avoid sexual assault if they did not "dress like sluts."
In the ensuing outcry from outraged men and women across the country, the officer apologized for his remarks, as they put the onus on women to prevent sexual assault and perpetuated the myth that clothing has any bearing on consent or willingness to have sex.
The SlutWalks were intended to highlight the fact that no one deserves to be sexually assaulted and that slut-shaming effectively legitimizes attacks by diminishing the responsibility of the offender.
Some people sought to "reclaim" the word slut, but I liked the message of the keynote speaker that there's no such thing as a "slut." People should be allowed to live their lives without being stigmatized for enjoying sex or dressing in a certain way, and should not be blamed and lectured about how they were dressed, or when and where they were, when they are sexually assaulted. The blame belongs entirely with the perpetrators of the assault.
