Setra S215 used to be a very common and successful touring bus model in the 20th century Europe. However, it has been quite hard to find one now in Europe. Yet the legacy of Setra S215 still continues in Kazakhstan. Even now in 2017, you will be able to see many S215s hopping around this Central Asian territory.

The vehicle registration plates format of the coach is also worth mentioning. X 543 VEN had a car plate format introduced before 2011. The very beginning single letter 'X' identified it was registered in the South Kazakhstan Province, and other 3 digits and 3 letters identified the individual vehicle.

A Setra S251HD carrying a plate that started on a LUT Guy Arab, which I unfortunately was too young to get a photograph of!

This Setra in GM Buses' Charterplan coaching unit carried the plate from new.

I have since photographed two other PCV's carrying this plate over the years..

KZ433CPA08, still carrying the former German owner Top-Reisen, had a license plate of 2012 format which started with the country code KZ. 08, located inside the square on the far right, was the area code that indicated its place of registration in Zhambyl Province.

Evergreen Setra S215H FIL 9365 is seen in Brighton in August, 1993. It was new to Jalna, Church Gresley, as TPE 170X.

A closer view of Setra S215HR UV 258 at Dherinia, Cyprus on August 4th 2017. As stated on a previous photo caption this was new in the United Kingdom to Welsh independent Bebb, Llantwit Fardre in April 1986 and was originally registered C29 JBO.

Not sure of the relevance of the fleetnumber 53 placed beneath the drivers side window. Here Setra S215HR UV 258 sits at Dherinia on August 4th 2017. This was new to Bebb, Llantwit Fardre in April 1986 as C29 JBO.

Two Setra coaches soak up the Cyprus sun at Dherinia in Southern Cyprus on a sunny August 4th 2017. UV 258 nearest the camera is an S215HR which was new in the United Kingdom to Welsh independent Bebb of Llantwit Fardre in April 1986. It was originally registered C29 JBO (one of a batch of three) and was exported to Cyprus in December 1987. Reportedly it had been acquired for spares by Omega, Paralimni from Kouzalis, Ayii Trimithias.
