A washed CSX 911 leads L032 through North Tonawanda, NY with Kantorski at the throttle. Pulling 150 cars the 911 and 1976 were in buffalo for the family days event and were put to L032 to help with the large train.

I had intended to stop for only one quiet drink.
Then I discovered a little bar hidden behind stained glass and dark timber, where the lights glowed like tiny captured stars and every chair appeared to have a story. My Persian cat promptly claimed the finest barstool, rested her paws along its leather back and watched me with the expression of a very strict fashion editor.
Apparently, I was being reviewed.
Fortunately, I had arrived in the adorsy Cherry Set - a delicious little composition of lace, pearls, denim and unapologetic femininity. The softly structured corset top curves into a romantic sweetheart neckline, framed with delicate ruffles and intricate lacework. Slim ties gather through the open center while the scalloped lower edge settles neatly against the waist.
The high-rise shorts bring the mischief. I chose the powder-blue polka-dot denim, finished with ivory lace, pearl-draped pockets and long ribbon-like trims that sway with every step. They are playful, beautifully detailed and just daring enough to make entering a quiet room feel suspiciously like making an entrance.
And those heels? Slender, sparkling and wonderfully impractical - precisely as a proper fashion moment requires. ✨
The bartender glanced from me to the cat and asked which of us was waiting for a table.
“She is,” I replied. “I’m waiting for applause.”
My little critic remained silent, although I distinctly noticed her tail curl approvingly around the stool.
🎀 Fashion influences
The Cherry Set gathers its romance from several eras. The shaped bust, corset construction and lace-up front recall Victorian corsetry and the intimate boudoir garments of the late nineteenth century. Its softly ruffled edging and pastel ornamentation carry a hint of Belle Époque femininity, when lace, ribbons and carefully arranged details were essential to fashionable dressing.
The high waist and rounded silhouette of the shorts suggest the playful pin-up fashions of the 1940s, while the polka dots and bright denim coloring evoke the cheerful resort wear and rockabilly styling of the 1950s. Pearl chains give the design a ladylike mid-century flourish, while the barely-there strappy heels introduce the clean, seductive minimalism of the 1990s.
The result is not a costume from any single decade. It is a flirtation with fashion history - corsetry made playful, denim made romantic and vintage sweetness given a distinctly modern wink.

This was last night's project. I've been wanting to try this for months. I just never feel like hanging out in the desert for a couple of hours babysitting my camera. It's funny how every little noise you hear seems so much louder and so much creepier when you're alone way out in the desert in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night.
The other problem I have had. I don't understand this, but the skies have been hazy and crappy for several months. The last really good, starry sky I have seen was in Moab, in September. I don't know where all the stars have gone. I can understand that here in the valley, it is smoggy and there is a lot of light pollution. But. Even in October and November, I was in places like Page, and the Grand Canyon, and there were practically no stars out. Arizona usually has some of the best skies in the world, but every night I look up and say, 'where are all the stars?' I hate how washed out the sky looks on the left half of this, but it's the best I could do with a shitty sky.
So... Anyway... This is about 20, 5 minute exposures merged in Photoshop. It's a total of about a two hour exposure. The moon was perfect last night for shooting this. Just a tiny sliver of a moon. Just enough to throw a little bit of light on my foreground and the mountains. I shot it right before the moon set, so most of the exposures were shot in total darkness with no moon. I also lightpainted one of the exposures a tiny bit just to give a little bit more sparkle to the cactus in the foreground.

Il mio piccolo set, sulla scrivania a fianco del monitor, con un paio di abat jour e uno specchio, Molte delle mie foto sono nate qui.
I went out Saturday and Sunday morning to shoot the full moon set over the city. Saturday was cloudy, but yesterday morning (when I took this shot) was clear. But chilly. Very chilly. : )
This was the lovely moment when the sun was just rising (behind me), adding some light to the buildings but the sky in the west was still relatively dark.
I know the moon is blown out, but I just don't know enough about HDR to shoot it that way and it doesn't really bother me. Well, not too much. :)

From an idea I had a few weeks ago. The weather finally got nice enough to go do it.
I wanted to do something with my tablet this week and thought this was appropriate.
Sunset in Oia, Santorini.
Here is my version of the sunset shot in Oia. This is a blend of 3 shots, 1.3 to 20 seconds, processed as follows:
1) Reduce noice on all 3 raws.
2) Create HDR in Photomatix
3) Blend using Exposure Fusion, sliders set to produce the most natural looking image while still showing some detail in the very dark areas.
4) PS smart sharpen.
5) PS burn the bottom
6) Nik Brilliance and warming
7) Nik Indian summer to warm th elights, masked to not affect the rest.
8) Nik sunlight, brushed over the buildings to add more light
9) Nik Glamour Glow to remove detail in the dark areas.
10) Detailed curves lightening pn windmills.
11) Dodge buildings that were too dark.
That is what farmers called it when I was growing up.when their land was all plowed and ready for spring planting
I wish my Dad could come back and see the equipment they have today. He would be amazed.
