Harrow Buses was set up by London Buses as a low cost operating unit in an effort to compete with the new private operators entering the market to compete for tender, however, these units were not overly successful, due to unreliable service, and industrial disputes due to lower pay rates than for the main London units, their routes being quickly surrendered to other units or private operators. Harrow Buses leased a batch of these smart Mk.II Metrobus for their Harrow Weald depot operations as well as acquiring some of the ex-WMPTE Ailsas, thus seeing Birmingham registered buses a common sight. New in 01/1988, this example is seen on College Road at Harrow Bus Station in early April 1988 about to depart on a short working of the 140 for Hayes. The full working of the 140 in this direction was to Heathrow Airport. The C & A department store, seen to the left, is now a Primark. Also noticed in the background is a Bedford TK box van from Royal Mail leaving the main Post Office.

Wooden block set by Schowanek, marked as made in the U.S. Zone, Germany, which dates the design of the label to pre-1950.
This is a small set, the box size is approx. 70 x 80 mm, and the price label shows it was sold in Harrods for 4/6.
The company originated in the Sudetenland area of Czechoslovakia. After the Second World War the factory was nationalised and continued to produce wooden toys in a similar style. The Schoanek company re-established itself firstly in Austria, and then in the western part of Germany.

I haven't had my hair set on rollers this year so this morning I was back in rollers and under the drier.
2xSB600 in 24x36 softboxes at 1/2 power camera left. Vivitar 285HV at 1/2 power on seamless. Fired using Flashpoint triggers.
This scuba set containg all parts listed will be sold for $12.00 in the new year. The hoses are new casts that utilize a pliable resin. The hose will be glued to the backpack and holes will be drilled into the helmet for easy assembly.

Next to an abandoned cabin on Squirrel Lake is this chair next to the remains of a fire pit surrounded by some fencing. When it was being used it must have been charming and quite isolated. All the other cabins are decades newer.
A pair of ATSF SD40-2's and a KCS SD70Ace lead a transfer from BNSF Argentine Yard out along the BNSF Emporia Sub in Kansas City Missouri.

Seen on service 320 from Hemel Hemstead to Rickmansworth via Watford is the last Optare Excel still in operation with the shires, this vehicle is due to be withdrawn this April. Its seen here in Watford town centre before continuing onwards to Rickmanworth in March 2015.
