Wahoo, the server is back. Thanks everyone who helped get the problems fixed, and here I am in the shire! I'll tag everyone I know who's in the server.

While this mode of action typically works when Gmail goes down, the whole "cross you fingers" bit always leaves me with the dreadful thought that all of my mail may have vanished forever. I finally finished setting up the boxes..
four of these compiled from scratch, the other two are funky freebsd installs on SATA drives and i had to do a lot of hoop-jumping to get them to work..
nice setup though and good to have everything running and online..
Our Novell NetWare 4.x Server has just passed 1000 days of uninterrupted work. It's running a shop management system with 30 Dos clients and two Win98 machines.
One of our temperature and airflow sensors. Heat and lack of air flow are the ememies of reliable servers.
We monitor from 3 different points within each cabinet for temperature and airflow. We also monitor the data center's ambient temperature. Alerts are sent out if measurements go over set limits.
Power usage is monitored to ensure we are within limits of the power supplied to our cabinets.
Meet CT-SVFILE-01 and CT-SVPRINT-01, the school file and print servers. These are Dell PowerEdge 2600 machines with 6 SCSI drives and two redundant power supplies, all hot swappable. The annual electricity bill is about £700 per machine, and we've got seven of these. They weigh about as much as I do.
