The Oculus was positioned as part of the World Trade Center masterplan by Daniel Libeskind and designed by Santiago Calatrava. The structure’s white metal-clad steel ribs reach up and out in a monumental move symbolic of a hand releasing a dove.
The structure's orientation serves as a lasting reminder of the attacks of September 11, 2001. It is in alignment with the sun’s solar angles on each September 11, from 8:46 am, when the first plane struck, until 10:28 am, when the second tower collapsed. Its central skylight fits this alignment and washes the Oculus floor with a beam of light.

A lot of dilapidated country barns hold one man's junk and another man's treasure as evidenced by this failing structure that serves as a parking spot for an old pickup and a cream separator and if you dared to venture further there is probably more items inside. Older people hold memories of how things were in the past and the wise younger person quietly draws them out.

Mauthalle (Former Customs House), Nuremberg:
This medieval building has served as a granary and customhouse throughout its centuries-old history. It was built as a granary around 1498 on the site of the former city moat. At the time, this was the largest grain house in the city and stored food for times of crisis.
The Former Customs House features a gabled roof. The eastern gable has an intricate network of blind ogee arches. The city's coat of arms, with the imperial eagle, is featured in the lancet-arched portal.
The impressive roof has five stories and rests on top of the three-story sandstone building.
The granary began serving as a customhouse in 1572. The building was heavily damaged during WWII but has been restored. The original builders used half-timbers on the facade; the remaining half-timbered facade can be seen on the building's easter wing. The rest of the building was rebuilt using brick.
The cellar features 26 pillars and now houses the Barefoot brewery and restaurant.

Dinner is Served - Adult female Belted Kingfisher with prey. Not sure exactly what the fish was, but looked like some sort of sunfish. The heavy rains and flooding have caused the river to swell, and the kingfishers were enjoying good hunting. A tight crop, but my first prey shot with this species.

So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

So I went to the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday to see Kylie Minogue in her now Annual Kylie Christmas event & the gorgeous Katherine Jenkins made a surprise guest appearance, which was nice..especially as I have meet and greet tickets to meet Katherine on the 27th...so I got a sneak preview..:)

This is from my series taken at Ashford Castle, Mayo/Galway Ireland in autumn. It's an alternate to a previously posted shot; can you guess which one?
I good friend of mine came to visit us at my mom's home in Schuders, located in the Swiss Alps near the Austrian border. She runs a day nursery near Zürich.
I processed a balanced and a photographic HDR photo from a RAW exposure, blended them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

Commissioned by a group of Spokane businessmen, the hotel is named after Louis Davenport, its first proprietor and overseer of the project. Architect Kirtland Cutter designed the building in 1914. The Davenport Hotel was the first hotel in the United States with air conditioning, a central vacuum system, pipe organ, and dividing doors in the ballrooms. It is also the place at which the first Crab Louis (named after Louis Davenport) was created and served. The hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Davenport Hotel was completely restored by developer Walt Worthy in 2002 and operates today under the name The Historic Davenport Hotel within The Davenport Hotel Collection brand along with its three sister hotels

The covered bridge was built in 1862 by a certain David I Wood, who used to charge teamsters to travel across the bridge. The bridge was built using wood from Mr. Woods's lumber mill in Sierra County, California. There is a plaque on the northern side of the bridge that commemorates this.
This bridge was built to replace an 1850 bridge that washed away in a storm. At 251 feet (229 feet after the end walls were removed) it is thought to be the longest single-span covered bridge in the United States. As with all such bridges, the cover serves mainly to keep the rain off the load-bearing structure, which would otherwise soon rot from the moisture. Some said covers also made the bridge look like a barn so horses wouldn't be frightened to cross, but this was not universally accepted by teamsters of the day.
This road in the late 1800s was part of the Virginia Turnpike, a link between Marysville and the Comstock Lode silver mines in Virginia City, Nevada. Wagon teams, horsemen, buggies and livestock were charged a toll to cross the bridge. The Turnpike ran 14 miles from Anthony House (submerged under Lake Wildwood) to North San Juan.
The main visitor center to the South Yuba River State Park lies just to the south of the bridge.
Two of the units are lettered for Buffalo & Pittsburgh and two for Indiana & Ohio. Like most locomotives from the Genesse & Wyoming family they have a storied past. One of them even served time in Australia. They are hauling a long string of cement cars which will eventually be interchanged with CSX at Emory Grove, MD.
