This large snapping turtle (Chelydra serpentina) was seen at the Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge, June 1, 2024. I knew of this rascal's disposition, so I kept my distance. When we returned, this female had dug a hole with its rear legs for the purpose of laying eggs.

Like a train of flowers.

The body color of this species is translucent tan, but the cerata, which vary from dark purple to lavender to golden brown, give the nudibranch most of its distinct color, green specimens are not uncommon. Roseate displayed cerata full of symbiotic zooxanthellae fanned out to absorb as much sun light as possible.

This is the first Common Garter Snake I have seen this year. They show up from time to time in my yard hunting for mice and voles. Seems this one caught something and had just about finished it when I took the photo.

Les serpents sont les descendants des lézards. A l'époque des dinosaures, ils étaient encore munis de petites pattes . Au fil de l'Evolution, elles se sont amenuisées jusqu'à disparaitre.

A winter wood photo from December, not a lot more to say today so I’m giving up trying. I’m not one to force a conversation I’d rather go quiet, nothing wrong with quiet.

The Serpent statue undulates 350 feet across the landscape. It was created by Ricardo Breceda.

So this is my entry to the Makuta Challenge. This serpent was inspired by Jormungandr and Quetzalcoatl. Before commenting, please, read this : I understand that this form may not meet your expectations of what you may think Makuta should look, but I thought it would be nice to make something else for a change.

I'd also like to thank these guys, their advice always came in handy: [http://www.flickr.com/photos/djokson],[http://www.flickr.com/photos/th3ch0s3n0n3], [http://www.flickr.com/photos/lordoblivionthegreat]

Imagine, you've walked for 10 days without seeing a human, through landscape, sleeping under stars and you finally find a sign of civilisation, a tavern near the sea.

You enter it. A ton of people are packed inside. You ignore them because all you want is a good meal. You order food and the guy comes with a plank with dried meat, beer and...a sea-serpent slice. What? You've never tasted that, you didn't know it's edible. Shocked and disgusted, you're too hungry not to eat it. and what do you know? it's pretty good !

After gobbling it all up in 5 minutes, you ask to random people why is this served in the tavern. Apparently, a sea serpent washed up on a beach near by. What a nice discover

I got inspired by a lot of medieval/viking food on Pinterest. I love those kind of art even if most of them are IA.

This MOC is for the Medieval Still Life category of Summer Joust 2025.

Hope you like it :)
