Some left home so others wouldn't have to
Some helped so others could have home
Some made it back, some didn't
Some left the homeland behind
Some are left behind ... ...
“With the new day comes new strength and new thoughts.” - Eleanor Roosevelt
Here we are, 21 years past a massive national tragedy, and in the midst of another tragedy. I was 10 when 9/11 happened. At the time, I thought the world was ending. As I grew older, I realized more and more that I had lived through an event that changed the world in ways subtle and obvious. I have that feeling again, now. Much as we were on that bright September day in 2001, our shortcomings and inadequacies are laid bare. May we rebuild stronger and better and kinder and wiser, as we have done before.

The National September 11 Memorial waterfalls, called "Reflecting Absence," are something to behold. Love the way they reflect the image of current buildings while reminding everyone of what came before.
Life goes on

I finally broke into the prison,
I found my place in the chain.
Even damnation is poisoned with rainbows,
all the brave young men
they're waiting now to see a signal
which some killer will be lighting for pay.
Into this furnace I ask you now to venture,
you whom I cannot betray.
THE OLD REVOLUTION
By Leonard Cohen
9-11 (September 11, 2001) was a shock for all of us. The destruction of the twin towers, and the attempted destruction of the Pentagon and the White House hurt us just where our enemies intended. This shot was taken with my Kodak Pony 35mm camera, after the light leak was fixed. HISTORICAL NOTE: I believe this shot was taken at a vending machine on East McKinney, more or less between the Central Post Office on the left and behind, and the central City hall building on the right and behind. The camera is looking due north.
Have a great weekend.
Nine years ago today, I was to start my new life in Florida. I got in my car to begin the long drive from Wisconsin, turned on the radio and just sat there because I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Needless to say, it was true. We will not forget! God Bless.
Happy Birthday to my dear friend Liz.
Thank you for your visits, comments and invites. hugs.

First attempt at a panoramic shot of New York from Jersey City, NJ. Shot on Canon 6D.
Lesson learned - use vertical positioning of camera on tripod instead of horizontal next time.
