This photo was taken on Sunday the 11th of September.

Some left home so others wouldn't have to

Some helped so others could have home

Some made it back, some didn't

Some left the homeland behind

Some are left behind ... ...

Sometimes I wonder how the world would be like if 9/11 never happened... I guess it would be a different world.

Union Street, Park Slope. Half of the Squad 1 force died on 9/11.

In rememberance of those killed on September 11, 2001.

The National September 11 Memorial waterfalls, called "Reflecting Absence," are something to behold. Love the way they reflect the image of current buildings while reminding everyone of what came before.

Where were you in 2001?

I was in my living room when the news broke.

Life goes on

I finally broke into the prison,

I found my place in the chain.

Even damnation is poisoned with rainbows,

all the brave young men

they're waiting now to see a signal

which some killer will be lighting for pay.

Into this furnace I ask you now to venture,

you whom I cannot betray.

Sorry for sporadic flickring again .. Don't seem to be getting back into flickr quickly since having a break. It's likely to be the same at least for a while due to real world things.

I couldn't think of a picture for today, but after watching all of those documentaries on the history channel, I guess I just got this spur of the moment idea.

It's a pretty quick makeshift thing, but I kind of like how the picture itself turned out.

I never understood, and I probably never will, how anyone could ever do this, let alone think of something like this.

I always feel so helpless whenever I think about it, how I couldn't do anything [I mean I was only 7..., but still now I just feel sad every time this day rolls around] and even now, 8 years later, most people my age don't really feel connected to this day, but for some reason I find myself very much so.

Have a great weekend.

Nine years ago today, I was to start my new life in Florida. I got in my car to begin the long drive from Wisconsin, turned on the radio and just sat there because I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Needless to say, it was true. We will not forget! God Bless.

Happy Birthday to my dear friend Liz.

Thank you for your visits, comments and invites. hugs.

15 years of pain, shame & blame

I never visited the Twin Towers myself. My brother did, shortly before the attacks in New York. He brought home the mugs as a memory from his visit. It was around noon in Stockholm when the first plane hit. I was eating my lunch at home, working at the greenhouse nursery at the time, watching the news as it happened. Twenty years on, it is still a surreal feeling.
