Adult males are striking and distinctive: mostly glossy black with bright orange flashes on the wings, tail, and sides. Females and young males are duller gray and olive with yellow patches instead of orange. Habitually flicks and fans tail while foraging for insects. Breeds in mature deciduous forests, often near water. Migrants can be found in any wooded habitat. Fairly extensive winter range throughout most of Middle America, the Caribbean, and northern South America. Song is extremely variable. (eBird)

Given the black flecks on this bird's throat, it is probably a young male. Eventually he will be a beautiful black and orange bird. We often call redstarts in this plumage "yellowstarts". He was coming in for a drink at the water drip.

The Amur Leopard is critically endangered with an estimated 19-26 remaining in the wild in South East Russia and North Eastern China. A pair of these beautiful cats were born at Colchester Zoo on 9th Sepember 2019.

I'm in a Dark Place.

It comes and goes.

This time is worse than others,

Tired. Beaten down. Silent.

I don't want to talk about it.

To talk about it is to relive it.

Why? To find some meaning in the meaningless?

To absolve you of the guilt that you caused my pain?

Fine. It wasn't you.

There is comfort in my dark place,

Silence. No stimuli.

My heart beats.

My soul cries and stops.

Despair is the dark brother of hope.

Childish things, both.

I am to old for childish things.

Acceptance. Recognition. Appreciation.

Peace.

And a dark place.

It comes and goes.

Today there are 2 pictures from the same photo location, exactly 5 years apart.

I like both, couldn't decide.

AAW Sepember 30 - October 7: Negative Space

WIT: This is my favourite pen-an- ink combo. I happened to have paper of these colours, so I thought I could make a geometric negative space for these subjects. In post, just cropped and cleaned a few spots.

Taken last Sepember. If you haven't been there put it on your bucket list. There is no way to described this place and I will not endeavor to do so.

An old man carrying firewood in Nako village in the interiors of Himachal Pradesh,India.I took this shot on an early morning walk through the village on a visit in Sepember 2014.

Nako is a picturesque village in Hangrang valley of Kinnaur district in the state of Himachal Pradesh,India.Situated at an altitude of over 11000 feet,Nako is famous for its Buddhist monastery dating back to 1025 AD and a small lake.Apples, potatoes and dried apricots are it's produce.I spent a night here in September 2014 while on work in this area.

Some photos from the World Heritage Site at Bekaa Valley, Lebanon.....

Baalbek (Arabic: بعلبك‎) is a town in the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon, situated east of the Litani River. It is famous for its exquisitely detailed yet monumentally scaled temple ruins of the Roman period, when Baalbek, known as Heliopolis was one of the largest sanctuaries in the Empire. It is Lebanon's greatest Roman treasure, and it can be counted among the wonders of the ancient world. The largest and most noble Roman temples ever built, they are also among the best preserved.

Towering high above the Beqaa plain, their monumental proportions proclaimed the power and wealth of Imperial Rome. The gods worshipped here, the Triad of Jupiter, Venus and Mercury, were grafted onto the indigenous deities of Hadad, Atargatis and a young male god of fertility. Local influences are also seen in the planning and layout of the temples, which vary from the classic Roman design.
