At last we got Pierce's first sentence recorded on camera. He started saying it at 16 mos. Really, it's the only sentence he says right now. His vocabularly has been expanding each day it seems, but this he had pieced together as a sentence with slight variations.

Joel Schrantz was sentenced to 42 months in prison for killing Mitch York on October 29th 2016. York was riding his bicycle on the west end of the St. Johns Bridge when Schrantz - driving a car with knowingly unsafe equipment and a suspended license and no insurance - lost control of his car and ran into him.

Liver failure. He has lost a third of his body weight in the last four weeks, a few more ounces since his first vet visit a few days ago, and his skin is very yellow (jaundice) under all that black fur. He got lots of fluids and a shot that will make him want to eat ... but that doesn't seem to be working. He'll live to see April, but not May ...
