The Northern Lights of The Aurora Borealis form amazing displays. As humans through identify threat and food we begin to see all sorts of things within all sorts of often none related things. Pareidolia is the term applied to our making sense of shapes and patterns that brings an acceptance of a structure in an image that many will be also able to see such as either a face for instance, or maybe here a Dragon? The Dragon was visible forming and flying on all through one area of The Northern Lights of The Aurora Borealis that were dancing and continually moving.
As for the title, “is it better either One, Number Two, or Three, maybe Four,” would it be of no surprise to mention that I have seen an Optician recently?

The text "A MERRY CHRISTMAS" is visible on the plate.
The card number "5004" is printed in the bottom left corner.
Christmas pudding and plum pudding are essentially two names for the same dish: a dense, steamed dessert made from dried fruits, spices, and suet. The name "plum pudding" is an older term. In pre-Victorian English, the word "plum" was used as a general term for all kinds of dried fruits, such as raisins, currants, and sultanas, not the fresh stone fruit we call a plum today. The dish is traditionally prepared weeks or even months in advance to allow the flavors to mature, often involving family members stirring the mixture and making a wish. On Christmas Day, it is usually served warm, doused in brandy, and set alight for a dramatic presentation.
Santa Claus looks excited in the image because, in the context of the Victorian and Edwardian eras, the Christmas pudding was a highly anticipated and significant part of the Christmas feast, symbolizing family unity, abundance, and joy.
Symbolism and Tradition:
A Prized Delicacy: The Christmas pudding was the centerpiece of the festive table and a rich dessert made with expensive, imported ingredients like sugar, spices, and dried fruits that were not everyday fare for most people at the time.
Anticipation and Ritual: The making and serving of the pudding was tied to numerous family rituals and superstitions, such as every family member taking a turn to stir and make a wish, or the excitement of finding a hidden silver coin for good luck.
Culminating Moment: The moment the pudding was ceremoniously brought to the table—often doused in brandy and set alight (flambéed) for a dramatic display—was a moment of great excitement and the celebratory culmination of the meal.
Joyful Imagery: Postcards from this era often depicted a jolly and enthusiastic Santa, as this aligned with the overall joyful and abundant themes promoted by Christmas imagery, a stark contrast to some earlier, more austere depictions of Father Christmas. Santa's expression, therefore, reflects the genuine excitement and shared happiness that the pudding represented to families during the Christmas celebration in the early 20th century.
Twas the Night before Christmas: Even in the iconic 1823 poem that helped shape the modern Santa, the description of his "cheeks... like roses" and "nose like a cherry" has been interpreted by some as suggesting a ruddy complexion from drink, though the modern interpretation is that his jolliness comes from the Christmas spirit, not alcohol.
The tradition of leaving food for Santa Claus has ancient origins in European folklore, though the modern American custom of cookies and milk became popular in the 1930s.
Historical Roots - Ancient Norse Mythology: One of the earliest roots of this practice dates back to ancient Norse mythology. During the midwinter Yule festival, children would leave food, such as hay or carrots, for the god Odin's eight-legged horse, Sleipnir, hoping Odin would stop by and leave gifts in return.
Dutch Tradition: The custom also stems from the Dutch celebration of the Feast of St. Nicholas on December 6. Children would leave their shoes out the night before with treats for St. Nicholas and his attendants, who were believed to be traveling long distances, and wake up to find them filled with gifts.
Modern American Tradition - The specific tradition of leaving out cookies and milk for Santa Claus became widespread in the United States during the Great Depression in the 1930s. At a time of economic hardship, parents encouraged this practice as a way to: Teach children about the importance of gratitude and giving to others, even when they had very little themselves. Reinforce a sense of hope and the spirit of generosity during a difficult period. The dairy industry later used marketing campaigns to promote milk as the ideal accompaniment to Santa's cookies, helping to solidify the tradition in American culture.

Backyard birds, Yakima County, Washington.
Most of us are likely in the same boat so to speak, trying to social distance from each other and many are more or less required or at least strongly requested to stay at home due to Covid-19. For that reason I have been taking photos of birds in my yard and staying home in hopes of avoiding this virus. Most wide open public places away from town are closed to access, which to me doesn't make much sense. There apparently is little chance of getting Covid-19 at crowded grocery stores where people are binge buying but people who want the enjoy wide open spaces are more susceptible to contracting this virus here in Washington State, USA. Most public land is closed to access. Bottom line for me is that I will only have photos of yard birds for several weeks or who knows how long unless I decide to search my archives or cheat. Santa claus will be watching to see who is naughty and nice. IMG_6942

Wymondham Abbey, founded in 1107 as a Benedictine priory, is one of Norfolk’s most striking historic churches. Its architecture tells a long story, marked by the presence of two medieval towers — the great fifteenth-century west tower that dominates the town, and the ruined eastern Monks’ Tower, the remnant of the old monastic church lost after the Dissolution.
Despite the destruction of much of the priory in the 1530s, the surviving nave and west tower continued as the parish church, preserving the Abbey’s blend of Norman foundations and later medieval craftsmanship. Today it remains a peaceful, atmospheric place with a rich sense of history at its core.

Had this eerie sense of floating through a cemetery this morning in the final moments before waking. A common theme lately is low altitude levitation (as opposed to full-fledged high level flight that I experienced when I was younger). It's as if my subconscious has become more cautious with age (mirroring a similar change in my conscious mind). The reasoning seems to still allow the fantasy of self flight, but the low altitude minimizes the risk of serious injury if I suddenly plummet into the ground (which never happens yet the risk, or at least fear, remains). In the dream, there's nothing at all unusual about a feat that, in real life, would literally defy the law of gravity. I either lift off the ground, or take a running jump that leads to absurdly long hang time before my feet touch back down. In this morning's iteration, I wound my way through the gravestones, observing them as I went, with little more direction than a leaf blowing in the wind. Yet it all felt perfectly controlled. The crossover between dream and wakeful thought was a place called Skeleton Hill. No such place exists in my real life (though I so wish it did). So my subconscious conjured it up for me. I just love when dreams mesh with conscious thought like this. And that the dream state created a name for this ethereal place. Dreams like Skeleton Hill are not the norm. Just as often I have an anxiety dream (well short of a nightmare but still unpleasant). These have taken many forms over the years. The anxiety morphs into whatever is mostly like to bother me in real life at any particular time. It's never really a big thing such that the anxiety is usually way out of proportion to the event. Doesn't matter, it's all just a dream. A recurrent format is the inability to photograph something that I desperately want or need to. The reasons vary. Maybe I can't locate my camera. Or the batteries are dead. Or I can't work the settings. Whatever. I generally awake still trying to sort out the malfunction with a sense of desperation. The urgency soon dissipates as I realize it was all in my mind. This is simply an updated version of a dream from my school days which involved me wandering the school hallways unable to locate my classroom. At least there's some balance. I can take some anxiety knowing some night soon I'll return to Skeleton Hill.
