Friday morning I returned to Porlock Common hoping to capture this composition which I had worked out back in May. I felt so lucky to get just the light I was looking for as this was probably my fourth trip there. Nevertheless each time you visit a place you learn more about it and that feeds in to the final picture.
Whilst stood waiting for the sun to rise fellow landscape photographer Andrew Wheatley came round the corner and was intending to shoot the same tree but looking in the opposite direction. And people say landscape photography is a lonely pursuit... tsk!

These are photos of some (probably most, but definitely not all) of the family members and friends who attended the Calkins reunion gathering just outside Spearfish, SD in mid-July, 2015.
As evidenced by the pictures (or perhaps in spite of the pictures!) a good time was had by all ... and the clan, with or without their tribal names, will gather again in the not-too-distant future ... perhaps in your back yard.

Bộ ảnh được tụi mình thực hiện để kỉ niệm 3 năm yêu nhau [25.05],đúng như tên gọi của bộ ảnh - là sự thân mật gần gũi,có những khi ngọt ngào..có những khi giận nhau..nhưng lúc nào cũng hướng về nhau cả

Nhóm chụp 4 người tụi mình luôn cố gắng hướng bộ ảnh đến ý tưởng này..để hình ảnh trước nhất sẽ đẹp trên tinh thần và sau đó mấy cái khác đẹp sau :]]

Tuy nhiên, do chỉ chụp với mục đích kỉ niệm,ko chuyên về ảnh,nên ko tránh được sai sót,có thể 1 số góc ảnh ko được đẹp,gây hiểu nhầm hoặc ko theo đúng tinh thần như trên..và để ko ảnh hưởng đến bộ ảnh đặc biệt có ý nghĩa này với mình..nên CÁC BẠN VUI LÒNG COMMENTS LỊCH SỰ HOẶC GỬI INBOX RIÊNG CHO MÌNH KHI BỨC XÚC =]]..mình sẽ rất cám ơn & tiếp thu

SUNSET OVER SOUTH BAY
Sunset over South Bay
Today was overcast, pretty much all day, but the sky was finally breaking near the beach (at least seen from where I was), and I thought it may turn out to be a fantastic sunset. But I didn’t feel like driving out to the beach.
Instead, I pulled out my old DJI Mavic Pro and let it take off from a little park nearby. While the massive blanket of clouds was still hovering overhead, it was very clear out in the ocean, and the sun was clearly visible. No marine layer.
It had been a while, so I totally forgot how sensitive the gimbal wheels and the sticks were. I flew it away from the park so that I could position it near I-405 and high enough to catch the sun dropping behind the ocean horizon.
The sense of stillness across South Bay created by the soft light was very palpable while the blanket of clouds soaked in red was hovering overhead as if the entire sky was blotted out by the alien spaceship. And there was a small but bright dot barely floating above the horizon.
I am planning to fly the drone more often. Stay tuned.
I wasn't really a big fan of the first two Thor movies (They were just forgettable in my opinion), but sense this will have Hulk and an overall more interesting story, I'm actually excited for this!
Up on top of Sgorr Tuath in Assynt - Scotland at the beginning of the week admiring sunrise unfold. Priceless!!
And probably my best selfie to date! might even get it printed as a souvenir.
Id have never gone up here on my own, not that it was hard, more isolated than anything thanks to James for moral support.

It came as a very pleasant surprise to find I was being scrutinised by this gorgeous female Bullfinch. She was so close it was impossible to fit her in the frame !

Happy Caturday! Polly and Cassie find the strangest places to sleep and seem to make them look comfortable. Today it's a chair stacked on top of another chair. They are basically making their bed out of the bottom of a chair.
