Seljalandsfoss, South Iceland

Seljalandsfoss is a waterfall in Iceland. It was a waypoint during the first leg of The Amazing Race 6. Seljalandsfoss is situated in between Selfoss and Skógafoss at the road crossing of Route 1 (the Ring Road) with the track going into Þórsmörk. This waterfall of the river Seljalandsá drops 60 metres (200 ft) over the cliffs of the former coastline. It is possible to go behind the waterfall.

Vivimos en una realidad donde abundan los prodigios, pero ellos no son siempre vistos, solamente por quienes han desarrollado su percepción se hacen mas evidentes.Los milagros nadie los hace ni los provoca, se descubren. ¡Busca!

A unique waterfall in the river Seljalandsá, about 30 km west from Skógar. It is 60 meters high with a foot path behind it at the bottom of the cliff, but with a thin cascade. It is the only known waterfall of its kind, where it is possible to walk behind it. The waterfall is very picturesque and therefore its photo can be found in many books and calendars.

Access to the waterfall is from the farm of Seljaland along the Ring Road, Iceland's main highway. A little further to the west there are several other falls, among them the interesting Gljúfrabúi which is partially masked by its own canyon. Access to it is from Hamragarðar farm along the road, east of Markarfljót.

Happy Monday. Time for work now. We had a great weekend and looking forward to seeing the ghost and spiderman this week.

Today in Iceland is Bolludagur, - Cream Puff Day or Bun Day. The day to eat lovely desserts. Bolludagur always falls on the Monday preceding Ash Wednesday.

"Tradition about this festivity is kinda crazy, to be honest, and it goes as follows: children arm themselves with a bolludagsvöndur, a stick especially thought for the occasion, after waking up on the morning of Bolludagur; they creep to their parents’ room and with the stick they spank the adults yelling “Bolla!”. For every blow received before getting out of bed, parents are supposed to give their children a cream puff. "

Tomorrow is: sprengidagur (Shrove Tuesday) where Icelanders get together and enjoy their hearty salted lamb :D

Then in 2 days, we have the Icelandic version of Halloween called öskudagur. No trick or treating, however children can visit local shops to sing and maybe get a treat.

Seljalandsfoss is a beautiful waterfall dropping about 60m. Steady rains & strong winds meant we were continuously wiping the spray off our camera & lenses. Drenched in spite of the rain wear, we walked behind the gorgeous drop, for this eye candy of a view.

Seljalandsfoss, Iceland

Waterfalls known as Seljalandsfoss in Iceland. Taken from behind the falls. There is a nice overhang in the rock above and a slippery path that goes behind the falls. I had to keep my camera inside my coat, except for the few seconds to take the picture.

My latest article for Wex Photographic is now ready to read. In this article I go through my personal favourite locations from Iceland that I think everyone should visit at some point in their lives. I still feel I've only just scratched the surface of what Iceland can offer and cannot wait to return in the next year or so. :)

This is the mighty Seljalandsfoss waterfall located just off the edge of the "Golden Circle" road. To read the full article please click the link below.
