I don't love you as if you were a rose of

salt, topaz,

or arrow of carnations that propagate

fire:

I love you as one lives certain obscure

things,

secrets,t, between the shadow and the soul.

I love you as the plant that doesn't

bloom but carries

the light of those flowers. hidden,

within itself,

and thanks to your love the tight aroma

that arose

from the earth lives dimly in my body.

I love you without knowing how, or

when, or from where,

I love you directly without problems or

pride:

I love you like this because I don't

know any other way to love,

except in the form in which I am not

nor are you,

so close that your hand upon my chest

is mine,

so close that your eyes close with my

dreams.

This barn was built in the 1920s and in 1988, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service purchased this property which was formally known as the McBride Ranch. Do You Love Life?

I was writing my endless scripture of troubles,

The Gospel According to Jude.

The Obscure.

The Patron Saint of Lost Causes.

But then I go running

And it is uncomfortable

And exhilarating at the same time.

I am so full of those two feelings

That my Troubles are lost

They are trying to keep up

And they will find me eventually,

But for now their absence leaves me with,

An Image:

I run to the top of a hill on a warm day.

The breeze is cool and the scene is wonderment.

If any Place should know, it is here.

Expectantly, I shout,

“Do you love life?”

As it dies across the wind,

I already know.

There is no answer.

Because, really, there is no longer any question.

Now, I feel.

It is beautiful, all of it, everything.

It has shared with me its unhidden secrets -

That just like this Place,

I am Life.
