Not a bad place to self-isolate! We have been at the cottage now for 11 months with occasional quick visits to Halifax for essential services not available locally.

It was Day 10 of self-isolating. I hadn't stepped outside of my condo the whole time. So I was ready to break out, buy a few groceries and enjoy the sunshine for a bit.

I took a short drive , a short walk and enjoyed the sunshine just like this Marmot was doing. (my gosh, has it only been a month since I started doing this self-isolation thing? It feels like forever).

Some of the new leaves now appearing in Captains Wood, taken on one of my exercise walks this week.

What a weird and terrifying year so far! After seemingly endless weeks of bad weather and one cold after the next we now face probably the worst crisis in my lifetime. I have not been very active with photography in the past weeks (mainly due to not going out much) and now that we are under lockdown there won't be many new photos - at least not landscapes!

I took this one last Sunday when we took the opportunity to finally go outdoors again to enjoy the sunshine and fresh air - I did not expect this to be the last day outdoors for the foreseeable future!

This was a lonely Hawthorne tree somewhere around Belstone tor.

Lockdown 3 self Isolation

Many of us have done that, mentally that is, even before Corona-Virus popped up. Treating the thoughts of 'the other' like a virus and being eager to self-inoculate us against ideas declared to be 'alien', is the unfortunate result of a narrowing of the mind. And I have not even begun to contemplate the historical record of people themselves being identified with the virus.

It is not forbidden to have fun in adversity! We can sing, joke, even listen to Gregorian chant (as long as we shed a tear for those in misery).

Last Friday, I did a longer walk, still starting from home. On the first stretch I spotted some sunlight on these bluebells near to the main path through Captains Wood.
