I saw her
I bent down
level
to level
with her eye
I could
see tears
as they
began
to flow
like a stream
running by
her pain
her sighs
her silent cries
within her
hijab
was
motherhood
a lost paradise
from the shame
of living
a Muslim
beggar
woman
in a painful
morbid disguise
hope
searching for
quietude
on the streets
where
she lies
an attempt at photography dedicated to glenn losack..

This was shot 5 years back and every time I went back to Ajmer during the Urus , the sea of beggars was always on the rise , near the Taragadh path towards the mountains there is a huge colony of beggars living in makeshift tents eating living defecating .. and they are happy as Ajmer is hope for them and thanks to the Holy Saint despite the sufferings hardshiips they return home with ample money and surely someone gets a dividend call it protection money , or call it the unseen beggar mafia with its ruthless tentacles ..and every Urus there are the regular beggars and new ones too.
And the Rajasthan government watches from the corner ..and the only one who enjoy the bounty of the state machinery are the VVVIPS they get to the Dargah without being hindered ,the cops literally licking their ass .the common man has to struggle to move ahead and the cops at times can be rude offensive after all it is not their religion..but I have met some good humble god fearing cops too who help the aged and the sick.. but these are not in the majority.
Ajmer administration still does not know how to manage crowds the scenes outside the Ajmer Railway station the apathy neglect of the devotees both by the State and the Railways is horrendously humiliating ..the poor are treated like cattle kicked and pushed around by the chaprasis.
There is no single window for redressal , crooks con men criminals drugaddicts can be found outside the station , the ricksha drivers fleece the commuters and all because during Urus time everyone wants to reach Ajmer and be under the canopy of Khwajah Garib Nawaz the Only Indian Saint of the Poor .
And I shoot beggars to show you that beggars are human too, maybe they dont have the same rights privileges as the common man, they are treated as scums , beggars are appeased by both Muslims Hindus to make a house in heaven through enforced charity , the hotels that cater to give food to the beggars are money spinning units with hired beggars working for them , the food they give to the beggars is not even fit for giving to cats dogs and rats ,, but they make money and expand their empires .. paying off the cops and other bureaucratic pimps and extortionists.
And it is sad that most religious pilgrimage sites have become commercial hubs Money is God .. and beggars are part of this integral Chakra or Wheel of Redemption.

Muslims all over the world are not the same , religiosity wise they follow the same tenets and I speak of a universal Islam without sectarian strife...but economically there is difference of heaven and earth between the poor Muslim and the rich Muslim.
Who is a rich Muslim.
The rich Muslim is the affluent soul who sacrifices camels , dumbas goats not one but many at a a great price ,he is mentioned in the Urdu papers too for Bakra Idd.
He shops for a dozen or more making the compound of a cosmopolitan housing society into a war zone with blood and gore.
We cut our goats at the butchers and bring home the meat many others do too.
The poor Muslim like the one you see in my picture dont celebrate Idd at all, they beg from the rich this is the truth and my pictures shot of Idd Namaz at Bandra Railway Station dont lie.
There is a great divide between the rich Muslim and the poor Muslim , the poor Muslim once lived in a ghetto but now it has been taken away from him under one scheme or another.
I shoot Muslim beggars , I shoot them to awaken the somnolent soul of Muslim laid back society.
Poverty and the poor cant go by the swish of a wand ..understandable.
My mentor Dr Glenn Losack tells me I should sit down at eye level and shoot the beggar but I cant do it , I am a diabetic and my joints pain when I sit down , I have a diminishing eyesight , but I am not complaining I am able to shoot pictures ..because my pictures speak truth because my picture are shot in humility you see them as they are..
Yes simplicity is the essence of street photography, fast reflexes and speed.
Snatching fleeting moments from the jaws of speeding time is a tough task mind you.
So here I shot the surrender of a little child , a surrender to fate almost like the sacrificial lamb at Bakra Idd..the goat cant escape his death he has to appease the soul of man and this child will appease the soul of a sleeping Muslim society..
Honestly who really cares a flying fuck for Muslim beggar not the Muslim Man at least he is safely ensconced head bowed in prayer in the nearby House of God...
Using a very soft wool, a bit empty simple box silhouette coat.
Ease, Soft & Light!
Distinctive design of the opend front, and three-quarter sleeves, and large the lapel, raglan sleeves but with narrow shoulders, deep pockets easy to use... the "mobility" and "feminity" are essential of the design.
Adjust a belt to the waist makes a cool atmosphere.
Or you can also coordinate it with some lather gloves ,or the sober color's scarf or muffler etc will be lovely together.

What you can't tell about the REAL me from this photo:
That I grew up an east coast Jew, and sometimes, here in Seattle, I miss the deli. I had a mullet and wore too much green eye shadow in high school. I don’t have any grandparents left and that makes me sad. I like to spoon my six-year-old Labrador Retriever when I sleep. He’s better than a space heater and the sound of his snoring soothes me. I haven’t had what society would call “a real job” in 15 years. Instead, I make my living as a full-time freelance writer and editor. I often write about women who live outside what society would consider the norm: women who choose not to marry, women who don’t want to have kids, women who haven’t had a so-called real job in years. In the past decade, I’ve done a couple of year-long temp jobs at a giant software corporation. The first time, I needed to pay off a credit card debt that outsized my annual salary. (I paid it off in a year.) The second time, I wanted to save up a down payment for a home of my own. (I did that in a year, too.) I bought my house by myself, which sometimes freaks out other people because I’m in a long-term, committed, loving relationship but I choose to live separately from my boyfriend. I once broke up with a guy who told me I had to choose between writing and him. It was an easy choice. I’m turning 40 in two months and admit that getting older scares me a bit. I used to think I was overweight in my twenties, which now seems ridiculous, considering how skinny I was then--and how much I’ve come to love my thirty-something curves, and my strong arms and legs. I used to wonder how I would see my dreams manifest themselves when I got older. Now I just focus on making them happen.

What you can't tell about the REAL me from this photo:
That I want to inspire people with my writing and make people listen to what I have to say. I want people to trust me and come to me when they need advice. That I want to forget about all the bad things that have gone on in the past five years and just live. That I've played the violin since I was 8, or that I'm a part of the Color Guard at my high school. Or that I'm half Puerto Rican for that matter. You can't tell that I've been through sexual harassment, abuse, and years of teasing at school because of my weight and clothing. You can't tell that I'm extremely afraid of the dark, blood, needles, and being alone. You can't tell that whenever someone puts me down, I stand in front of a mirror and tell myself 5 things that I'm good at or that I like about myself.
